After years of beating my head against the wall, I finally got this figured out!

This video explains how to automate Native Instrument's NKS plugins and 3rd party plugins using the Komplete Kontrol knobs within Pro Tools.

In most other DAW's, this requires no configuration at all. But, as well know, Pro Tools can be persnickety...

To make things more complicated, automating NKS plugins is a completely different workflow than automating 3rd Party Plugs...

I don't use PT but in Ableton Live it's a pretty simple affair and the same process as automating any other plugin, just enable "Configure" in the VST loader for a track and then move whatever controls on KK you want to be able to record and they are now learned and ready to go. Litterally that simple.
