Yes.. the magnetic Smart Connector on the iPad could open up some very interesting add-on controllers!

Calling Flexi a piece of poopoo was not nice, I apologize. Please don’t tell my mommy.

I had added this to my earlier post that you quoted:

Controllers that focus on the task of capturing human motor skills tied elegantly to music/sound generation is what we need as hardware from NI.

And unfortunately, NI has NOT been focusing on this for quite some time. NI has tried to go beyond capturing motor skills and has tried to include browser/library functions on the controller which has held back both the desktop and controller development.

Available early 2024 "in the US" lessens the impact of the reveal considerably though

But I admit enjoying the reveal. Been a while since something significant in the novelty dept. materialized in tech. I can already see smartphones etc becoming obsolete

Developer sessions are where we might learn more about AUv3 for macOS emphasis...A direct signal to the speed of further Mac <=> iPad integration for audio production.

Nice, but high-end?..... It cannot compete with x86 by any means.... x86 delivers or will deliver several times more CPU computing power....

Nothing to glean yet from sessions that would relate to this thread... and the session topics don't look too much on target to reveal anything big.

And anything Vision Pro related would be 3-5 years down the road to even be semi-mainstream affordable and developed enough to be a tool more than entertainment.

But 5 years from now?? Could be pretty cool environment to create & perform music for many people.

And NI could be part of this in 5 years if they plan and prepare now.

And there will be a need for physical controllers even inside this virtual realm. Objects to orient our motors skills large and small.

Two days ago you doubted about it. Wait almost to reviews and articles and expect the words “professional” and “standard” a lot.

    Offtopic ended on my side.

I doubted about M1/2/3 Extreme (4x Max chip), not Ultra (2x Max chip). (If I wrote Ultra earlier, it was owerwritting, I meant Extreme - four Maxes "glued" together.)

The both Intel and AMD are going to have aprox. 100 core CPUs. So, 24 core of M2 Ultra is not high-end by far. But OK, it is quite strong CPU....

So, there is guite a gap between x86 workstations and Apple Silicon ones. And time goes on and the gap widens and widens...

    EDIT.

And two CPUs may be on motherboard. So, about 200 CPU cores against 24 in Mac Pro. That is quite a difference.... So that, Mac Pro is way, way far from hi-end. And beside CPU cores also amount of RAM and PCI lines is somewhere far behind.

    So, maybe M3 Extreme....

Future of Machine type controlling/creating is fun to imagine.

Physical Modeling of sound generation is a better path vs Sampling for the AR environment. Controllers will not be constrained by need for labeling and layout.

Modular, deformable, wearable, haptic surfaces = common AR music controllers 2028

NI could "own" a nice chunk of this space.. pun intended.
