Max sample and recording length? (M+)

If I recorded some long synth pads from external synth is there a limit to have long it could be? Or does it have to fit into 8 bars or whatever.

What is the maximum length a sample can be? I want to use foley - SFX, wind, water etc. Is there a limit? (in stereo)

    There is no limit (at least theoretically). Or, we may say, the limit is your hard disc free space.
