Traktor s8 use without HW serial and serial number on thre s8 screen

hello, please can anyone tell me, Can Traktor S8 be used ( will it actually work) without the hardware serial number being registered to me, for example, can i use an already installed traktor pro with an S8 that has not had the HW serial registered?

qustion2 - is it possible to show the serial number on the S8's screens?

The reason i ask is complex, ive sold the perfect and brand new unit and the new owner I think is trying to scam me saying its faulty, i need to determine if the photos he sent me of a faulty unit are actually the unit I sent to him, I think he is trying to scam me....

Any midi hardware will work with Traktor. No serial has to match.

thanks, so what is the point of having a HW serial? and do you know if its possible to see the HW serial number on the screen of the S8?

HW serial is written in the bottom plate. Not sure if there is a way to show on screen serial or why it would be needed.

The HW serial is used to register the hardware and then receive your license etc.

Not sure if there is a way to show on screen serial or why it would be needed.: because I need to determine if the new owner is sending me pictures of the actual unit I sold him by seeing the serial number of the unit on the screen of the S8, unless you can think of another way? thanks

I wonder if the USB device ID is unique and related the the HW serial 🤔 It's just a very wild guess. Probably not.

The hardware serial is at the bottom plate of the controller. That's why I don't think it is necessary to display it.

Also that means one could edit QML file and edit the serial too.
