Logic Channel Strip - saved with K7 loads with K8

Hello,

I have created many channel strips in Logic with Kontakt 7 and I would like those channel strip settings to keep loading with Kontakt 7 for the time being.

But since installing Kontakt 8 (we're on 8.3.0 - can't upgrade at the moment, larger team, not my call) all those channel strips automatically open in K8.

Is there a way to set a preference for that not to happen?

I don't mind the auto-migration to happen for channel strips that where saved with K6 or earlier - those are no longer installed on our systems.

Ah sorry, I think I have to correct.

It seems to recall the channels that were saved with K7 with K7.

Only the channels with older versions of Kontakt are recalled with K8 - which makes total sense and is the preferred behavior of course.

So it means those channels had been saved with K5 or K6 and I only thought I had saved those with K7…

My bad - nevermind - nothing to see here… ;-)

@niuser0001 For the automigration to work you need to unistall all previous versions of Kontakt, as explained here: Notes about Auto-Migration of Kontakt Versions in DAW Projects

Which Kontakt plug-ins do you still have in your plug-in folder? Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components

If you still have Kontakt 7 and Kontakt 8 in that folder, I think the track would only switch if the previous version is not present in that folder.

    Thank you for jumping in.

    Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.

Yes, I want to, need to and do have both K7 and K8 installed.

Automigration works, that's not the issue, it "works too well" is the issue:

I wish for the channel strip loading to load the instrument that was actually saved to the channel strip (which was K7!). Right now K8 is "taking over" even though the channel strip was a) saved with K7 and b) K7 is in fact still installed and active - so K8 should not take over.

So where can I tell K8 to automigrate only if K7 is not installed?

Yes, I tried to reproduce the issue and I found out the same. Older K5/K6 tracks turn into K8 and K7 tracks stay K7 tracks.
