Kontakt mysteriously quit responding to MIDI (file) input

I haven't had a DAW since gigastudio went under, but I've been able to play midi files through Kontakt using a midi player and LoopBe1. This gimmick was working great with Kontakt 8. Then, with a simple little 3-minute midi file, it played 3 times perfectly, then Kontakt 8 quit responding. The midi file plays OK but it plays through some kind of default midi "piano" (all channels go, omni-like, to some "piano"). Sounds pretty bad. Meters show no response on any channel in K8. LoopBe1 is the only Options assignment for midi input.

    The whole problem was solved by NI help — just another stray file & folder that needed to be deleted and/or renamed. I don't know what was going on, but with some help from humans and AI, it is now all solved, and I am a happy Kontakt 8 user.

    Maybe some screenshots would help? What kind of MIDI files? What MIDI Player? what is LoopBE1, can you provide links to that?

    It sounds like LoopBE1 is connected to your default sound card in your PC and it's bypassing the connection to Kontakt. The default piano is part of the general MIDI capabilities in Windows so I'd check the configuration in LoopBE1, especially if you're using a different audio interface for Kontakt.
