Screen goes immediately dark when trying to load an instrument in Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt

Mayday! Mayday!!! My computer screen goes dark immediately when trying to load an instrument in Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt (either stand-alone or Logic Pro 11). I am running Sequoia 15.5 on a new Mac Studio. If I try to restart after the crash, the comp tries to re-launch the previous apps - which of course launches KK and causes the crash again (and again), This is true even tho I do NOT have 'reopen windows' active as a preference .When this happens, I have to 'hard-start' the computer or reboot in 'safe mode'. From what I can tell - NI products are NOT compatible with this OS. Either that, or there is something else that is causing a serious conflict. I did 'migrate' from my previous iMac (i7 Intel). Anyone else experiencing this issue??? Can anyone help me??? Thx, Kelly

    I did 'migrate' from my previous iMac (i7 Intel)

    'Migrate' in what sense ? Did you reinstall Native Access , Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol and other N.I. apps on the new computer ? That sounds as a necessity at least..

    What's your screen and resolution and refresh rate and how is it attached ? Also what is your Kontakt version ? and your Komplete Kontrol version ?

    There has been seen problems with Mac and Kontakt before though I can not remember it to also include Kompelte Kontrol

    If using Thunderbolt and high refresh rate then for what it is worth then you can check if it makes any difference using HDMI and 60 HZ.

    Else then though not the same issue then it still leads one to think of issues such as these :

    Kontakt 7 and 8 make new Mac Studio crash and reboot

    Kontakt crash on new Mac Studio M3 Ultra //"Solutions" don't help

    Else I will try calling for Jeremy_NI : could you please take a look at this problem ?

    Hello Poorfellow, I migrated using Apple's Migrate Assistant. But, I have since reinstalled my NI stuff i.e. Kontrol, Kontakt, Maschine etc. using the "reinstall' command in Native Access. By the way, this same problem happens when I launch Mashine and try to open an instrument. That is to say, Maschine will open, but, when trying to open an instrument - crashes (goes completely black immediately.) Requires a hard-start. I am running a new Samsung G9 (49" OLED 240 hz.) via HDMI.

    Try uninstalling Native Access and then reboot and then download and install latest version of Native Access for your OS (check file management settings)

    Then uninstall/remove Komplete Kontrol ,

    Then delete as described in Resetting the Komplete Kontrol Database

    Then reboot

    Then open Native Access and reinstall Komplete kontrol

    Then run Komplete Kontrol as stand alone and see if the above has helped…

    If the above helped the try the same procedure for Kontakt , uninstall/remove , delete as in reinitialize the KONTAKT Database , reboot , reinstall and run as standalone.

    Also :

    ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

    and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

    And quote Kymeia : if using Sequoia then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network

    @kbryarly ,

    P.S. Not sure if I misunderstood the situation. I initially comprehended it as if your problem were general one including standalone. But with respect to DAW projects then for projects made on an Intel Mac then you might have to open them using Rosetta on an Apple silicon Mac.

    @PoorFellow ,

    Thank you for trying to help me! You understood correctly - I have a general problem with attempting to open an instrument in Kontakt 8, Komplete Kontrol; Machine+. There seems to be a conflict that causes my screen to go black and crashes my computer. I migrated my NI Library from my old Intel Mac to the new Mac.

    Did you then try the above suggested uninstall - re-install of Native Access and Komplete Kontol , + reset of of the KK database ? ?

    I am in the process of doing that now. Here is another issue: When I launch Logic Pro 11 I keep getting this alert - could this have anything to do with this? How can I fix this?

    @PoorFellow

    So, I reinstalled the Mac OS (Sequoia 15.5) since my Mac would not startup due to this issue. I uninstalled/reinstalled KK and was able to do a successful scan and reset. Tried opening a few instruments and they worked! However, I uninstalled/reinstalled Kontakt and as soon as I clicked on it (was going to do a scan reset) the same crash happened. Kontakt 8 is NOT compatible with Sequoia 15.5 it seems. This is a huge problem since most of my VSTs are Kontakt based. Don't know what I can do.

    @kbryarly I see that you have a M3 Ultra and what looks like a 5K or more monitor, right? "Samsung G9 (49" OLED 240 hz.)"

    We've seen some Mac crashes (aka Kernel Panics) with certain monitors like that. Some user reported that switching the refresh rate from 120Hz to 60Hz stopped the crashes from happening. Can you give this a try?

    We have filed a report to Apple so I might get in touch to get some specific files. Let me know if the change of the refresh rate was helping.

    @Jeremy_NI

    Thank you for reaching out…so, I switched to 60Hz. Kontakt 8 did not crash my system! My screen does not look as good, but, at least I can Launch Kontakt 8 without a hard crash…. However, When I try to load one of these NI instruments, it will not load. I also do not have access to the "Tools". Additionally, my Library seems to be incomplete - I have Komplete Ultimate 15. Actually, as I have been messing around a bit it seems that NO instruments will load in Kontakt.

    Interestingly, I can load instruments in 'Classic' view (at least it seems that way)…but still no 'Tools'

    image.png

    Another issue is that some of my "Leap" expansions are missing. Also, when I try to load one (Afrobeats for example) it will not load….

    image.png

    Thank you!

    Also - Any idea how I can fix this:

    image.png

    This alert happens every time I launch Logic Pro 11.

    To continue…

    It looks like all of the advanced functions of Kontakt 8 are disabled. No 'Tools'; no 'Leap'; no Chords; etc. Can anyone help me out?
