Complete Novice needing help with set-up, or maybe more

Like many I am new to the computing world and its connections with synthesis, DAW, and everything in between. I purchased the following:

Komplete Kontrol s49 MK3 and Kontakt 15. Everything is up and running and I am able to use the instrument and all sounds effectively

I have no experience with any DAW. This bundle included Ableton 12 Live Lite, which I have installed and am running. When I have attempted to use the instrument and sounds through Ableton I seem to lose control of the board and the ability to navigate and play from sound to sound. I have consulted multiple Ableton videos and many NI videos, but frankly they assume much in the way of experience and nothing seems to work. I need help

    To preface, it will be assumed one has at least some kind of experience with at least computers as what you have in front of you is (seriously) what some of us spent many months//years learning when we started out, often in days before the internet. These days people just assume they can install, load up and profit without investing the time….

    First thing you will need to post is a screenshot of what your MIDI preferences look like in your Ableton software.

    Next, you also need to be sure that for full function of the keyboard on a track you are loading plugins WITHIN the Komplete kontrol plugin. Will also need more details on what you mean by "I seem to lose control of the board and the ability to navigate and play from sound to sound" such as what you mean by "the board" (keyboard I assume) and how you lose control…. What do you have loaded on the selected track in Live, what do you press on your keyboard, what actually happens, what is on the next track you navigate to, screenshots can explain more than words can usually.

    I am sure you will get things sorted, but given your inexperience it will take some time to come to grips with what is happening.
