I hope this message finds you well. I am seeking assistance with my Komplete Kontrol S88 MK3, which is not detected by my Windows 11 PC. Below is a concise description of the issue, troubleshooting steps, system details, and diagnostic output. I would greatly appreciate your help in resolving this.

Issue

The S88 MK3 is not recognized when connected to my PC’s front-panel USB-C port or rear USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (via USB-A to USB-C adapter). It does not appear in Device Manager or command-line USB device lists. The device works perfectly on my MacBook (firmware updated), and its hardware functions normally (display, LEDs, keys). Other USB-C devices are recognized on the same USB-C port.

System Details

  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B450-PLUS II (AMD B450 chipset)
  • OS: Windows 11 24H2
  • USB Ports: rear USB-C (FP_USB_C header), rear USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • Power Supply: Separate USB-C adapter (5V/3A) used for S88 MK3
  • Purchase: Coupang

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Connections:
    • Tested USB-C port with original cable and USB-A ports with adapter.
    • Used separate power supply to address "insufficient power" errors.

    • Updated BIOS, AMD B450 chipset drivers, and Windows 11.
    • Confirmed S88 MK3 firmware is latest via MacBook.

    • Disabled USB Selective Suspend in Windows.

Suspected Cause

I suspect a USB compatibility issue between the ASUS TUF Gaming B450 PLUS II chipset’s USB-C controller and the S88 MK3’s USB descriptor, as the device is not detected at all (no "Unknown Device" in Device Manager or CMD output).

    Hello,

    does the keyboard even power up on midi mode if you connect it to the asus mainboard and the same if you use a power brick. Do you have the hardware connection service installed via native access? But as you've said, it should at least show up as an unknown device that's really strange. Have you installed the latest chipset drivers from here:

    I tried updating the BIOS and chipset drivers from the site you sent, restarting and repeating the process, but the issue persists. The hardware connection service is already installed. Since the firmware was completed on a Mac, the device shows a "Hardware" and "Midi Template" and "Play assist" window, and device settings function normally.

    And I guess usb works with other devices like USB sticks, keyboard and mouse. I would say the b450 chipset causes no problems with that keyboard, otherwise the forum would be full with it. Have you maybe activated some security functions like folder protection?

    My money is on a wonky USB-C connection here.

    Suggest you download a utility called USBTreeView from Uwe Sieber

    USB Device Tree Viewer

    This tool is the best enumerator of USB ports that I have found.

    Fire it up to get a baseline view of ALL your USB ports, what is connected to them etc and then while it is running - plug in the S88MK3.

    If this tool does not see the device come online - it is pretty much a guarantee that the specific USB-C port being used - is faulty.
