How to get NI controller editor to recognize my Komplete Control MK2

Is there a Firmware update that is needed?

It should not be the firmware (Controller Editor should see it anyway). In any case, last firmware version is 1.4.0. If that is not what you have, you can find the updater here:
One culprit for the keyboard not being recognized could be NIHardwareAgent not running in background. Check it in Task Manager. (Point 4 of this support article:)
While you’re there, check also the other points 😉

Different hardware controllers will allow for different abilities in the configuration of their outgoing MIDI Control Changes. If your controller does not appear in Controller Editor, it is due to the reasons listed below:
Hardware Controllers which are configured from their Application
Komplete Kontrol S-Series MK2
Komplete Kontrol A Series
Komplete Kontrol M32Ref. : My Native Instruments Controller does not Appear in Controller Editor
Also :
last firmware version is 1.4.0
For Komplete Kontrol S-Series MK2 then latest firmware is Firmware version 0.5.9 or firmware version 0.6.0 depending on when you bought the keyboard. Keyboards with firmware less than 0.6 can not be upgraded beyond firmware 0.5.9

True…forget what I said… it’s not the case for MK2 if it’s only Controller Editor that doesn’t recognize it
