Have license for K7 full but want to install K7 player only instead - no way?

Hello,

I have a Komplete licence that includes Kontakt 7 full, but for many reasons, I would like to install only K7 Player on a new system to exchange the project with guys who don't have the full K7.

K7 is a different plugin from K8, so I cannot just install K8 to have the projects that use K7 load properly.

And, I would like to avoid loading projects in a system with K7 installed, save presets, and import them into K8 Player - don't get me started on that :)

Is there a way I can install K7 Player from Native Access, OR is there a K7 Player installer around (for Windows 10/11)? I also have a serial for "K7 Players" but even adding it to my account, only K7 full is shown - and, yes, I have enabled "show legacy products in Native Access.

Am I doomed? Anybody can share a K7 Player installer?

Thanks!

if the serial is already registered in NA, I suspect it will not be possible to install Player version.

About projects exchange: it should depend on the libraries themselves. If they are libraries that don’t require Full version, I think you would be able to exchange projects anyway. Your libraries are opening with full version but on the other guys side it should open anyway with the player version (unless you modified the libraries in some way).

Take all of this with a grain of salt, this is just a supposition.

There are 2 things you can do: very easily and directly try to transfer a project that contains a library both sides own to see if it’s working and also contact support to ask if what I said is correct. While you speak with them, you could also ask if installing Player although owning Full is possible, in case the transfer will not work because of the difference of versions.

The best thing would have been that Kontakt 8 would replace Kontakt 7 while being backward compatible, so even having K8 installed would allow loading the projects flawlessly without having to deal with this ***pid versioning hell pattern. Let's say today I use a lot of stuff in K8, to find that when K9 is out, I will have to keep K8 around to be able to load this stuff in the future.

I still can't believe all of this is being handled so badly, together with libraries being updated and becoming incompatible. It can be worked around, but I honestly think it could have been managed so much better… for the moment, I'm staying far away from the latest NI stuff for reasons like these.

I could be opening projects years later, to find that I have to make voodoo to recall everything fine (I know, there are audio stems for this reason, not my favourite way though…)

    Thanks,
    Mario
