Random volume from MIDI instrument track

Pro Tools with Kontakt 7 instrument track. I've removed all effects from the instrument. Imagine a four-note MIDI melody. Try controlling the volume of each note using MIDI Volume or Audio Volume or Velocity or Expression (CC11). None of these effectively controls the volume that comes out, which seems completely random. Play the melody once and the third note is loud. Play it a second time and the first note is loud. Can't predict which notes will be loud. Same happens when I play a note on the keyboard at the bottom of the Kontakt window; pressing the same key multiple times results in random volumes. What am I doing wrong?

Which instrument are you using? Is it possible the instrument has random velocity variations programmed?

    Kontakt4 / Band / 1 - Horns / Trumpet Mute.nki

I've used this instrument in the past but don't remember encountering random volumes. I'll be happy to get educated about how to look for random velocity variations programming.

I have no idea where to look as I'm not a Kontakt expert by any means, but I know with some instruments do rotate samples. @stephen24 knows Kontakt pretty well so might have some ideas.

Aha. You are right about the round-robin. I can now see that each Group within the instrument gets activated in turn, with each note-on event. But I don't see any reason for it to act round-robin; it is not specified in the Group Start options for any of the groups. I've now redefined the Group Start options to be dependent on controller 70, and the problem has gone. Thank you!
