Kontrol 49 to MK3 w/o USB-C

Two fold question. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I have a Kontrol keyboard, MK3 DAW, on an old Mac laptop that does not have USB-C only two USB-A ports. Currently I have the MK3 and the Mac connected via USB-A. I would like to connect my keyboard. I am assuming I need to connect the keyboard using the MIDI in and out. Will I also need the power supply or will the MIDI cables act as a power source, also will the MIDI cables be able to act as a link and download the software and drivers? Hopefully I made sense. If not please guide in the correct direction. Thank you

you can connect the kk mk3 with a usb c to usb a going from host port to computer, but you will also need to use a usbc power adapter going to the port next to the host port .

Or you could use the usbc power adapter and regular midi ,

midi isn’t the same as usb , it will only send midi data , so you need to use usb for software, kk or firmware

How old is your mac? What OS version does it run?

As mentioned, USB is how you want it attached but consider that there are minimum requirements for the software so just be sure your OS meets the requirements to save you time and a headache.
