Guitar Rig 6 standalone not working

Guitar Rig 6 Pro Standalone never worked. I tried in both Intel and Silicon macs and using three different audio interfaces, Scarlett Solo 1st and 4th gen and a Yamaha THR10.

With all three interfaces Guitar Rig 6 works fine as a plugin.

I downloaded Guitar Rig 7 Player and it works perfectly fine as a standalone app.

One community user fixed it changing the audio interface. Since I tried already three interfaces, two computers and two guitar rig versions, I tend to think there is no problem with my setup, but with Guitar Rig 6 itself.

  • Guitar Rig does not receive any input signal when used as a standalone software.
  • Audio settings are correct and the same in both Guitar Rig 6 and 7 player.
  • Current OS: MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for my late reply, @Jeremy_NI
I found the issue: GR6 needs to be given access to the microphone in order to receive input from the interface.
Apparently, GR7 does ask to give such permission on the first run after installation. GR6 does not.

I hope this will help other users with the same issue.
I will try to add this information to the ticket opened on my behalf.

    Thanks and apologies again.

If you want to troubleshoot then you have to work with one setup at a time rather than three.

I myself have been told that the page Compatibility of Native Instruments Products on macOS is sort more a guide line that something to be taken as literal , however it still says that first Guitar Rig to be Sequoia compatible is 7.0.2

Else , on other computers did you then give ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access ? : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

Also I an try asking if @Jeremy_NI could you please take a look here ?

The different setups are my different equipments since I first updated to guitar rig 6 back in 2020. So I did troubleshoot one setup at a time.

I had give up until I recently got myself a Scarlett 4th gen and wanted to give it another try. Same result.
Right now all my NI apps do have full disk access, NTK Daemon included.

Thanks for the update…and sorry for not thinking about this one, I totally forgot about this one, this also happens for other products like Maschine, we have KB articles about it. Glad that you found it out and the issue is solved.

For other users that may be affected by the same issue: macOS Dialog: “*App Name* would like to access the microphone."
