Kontakt 7 INCREDIBLY slowing down my PC

Hi guys,

i'm really struggling here since I work in audio for a living and I desperately need a fix...

i'm on ableton live 12, have a very powerful pc (ryzen 9 7950x, 66 gb ram, only SSDs), cpu will be at 20% max and i usually have a lot of lanes.

now, if i open a project that does NOT contain kontakt but has many, many lanes (my cpu hungry east west orchestral template), it will open up fast and not lag a single time during production. but as soon as i open a project containing kontakt 7, IT WILL TAKE UP TO AN HOUR to open up.... when finally open, its laggy as ******.

i read through many online forums, deleted unnecessary service center files, i uninstalled and reinstalled all the kontakt libraries, i reinstalled kontakt 7.

only thing i havent tried was batch resave since i cant risk not being able to open older project where i have used kontakt 5.

does anybody have a fix, I REALLY NEED HELP GUYS.

thanks in advance...

my first question: which version of K7 do you have installed?

version 7.10.7 is the latest available, and among other fixes, includes the following release note:

also, when kontakt 7 is uninstalled, all projects open in a matter of seconds

    Literally an hour?

Maybe you do a check of the SSD health if there are reading errors for the library files.

Are you by any chance using any network drives (including drives not used for Kontakt files) ? Or do you have folders synced with cloud drives ?

i read through many online forums, deleted unnecessary service center files, i uninstalled and reinstalled all the kontakt libraries, i reinstalled kontakt 7.

Did you also reinitialize the KONTAKT Database ?

My targeting system is telling me that there may be a memory configuration issue.

OP says in his/her original post, that there is "66GB" memory in that system.

I don't know how you get to 66 without having a mismatch of RAM sticks. And RAM issues certainly CAN cause performance issues; especially if there's a mismatch in memory stick capacities, timings, or slots.

    Good luck to OP.

Questions about gaps in this scenario:

How long has Kontakt 7 been part of this environment? When was it installed - exactly.

When was the last time it worked fine - like at all? Week ago? Month ago? Not at all?

Has this "1 hour" thing been going on since the beginning?

How many plugins does the OP have?

And yes - 66 GB of RAM makes no sense. Maybe it's a typo?
