I purchased a new instrument this week and tried to use it via the Kontakt 8 Player, only to to have an error message stating I need a "Full Version."

Sorry to sound ignorant, and I'm not surprised, but I had no idea there were updated versions of Kontakt.

So, with my full version being 5.8.1, I'm wondering if there is an upgrade from the 5.8.1 to current, or do I have to purchase a whole new version?

Also, will this affect the 60+ instruments I already own with Native Access? Will some legacy instrument no longer play?

Also then please notice that if you are referring to anything being used in DAW projects then please also notice that only some newer DAWs support auto.migration between Kontakt version. I am sorry have no experience with this myself so I can only refer you to the help page on the subjhect :

Also please always check the system requirements before buying upgrades or updates.

And with respect to N.I. software then if you generally would like to acquire N.I. software and Kontakt libraries then most often then the most economical way of going about doing that is to get one of the Komplete 15 bundles which, if you get Komplete 15 Standard and higher tier, have the Kontakt 8 full version as well as full version of other N.I. apps such as Guitar Rig 7 Pro and Reaktor 6 .
