Kontakt 8 frequently crashes FL Studio.

This happens with a simple pattern of one note. I'm using Century Strings: 8Dio Centure Violins 1.

I'm not sure whether or not this is relevant, but I had to re-install Windows on a new drive, but my Native Instruments libraries were stored on a separate external SSD, and appear to have been reconnected correctly. I seldom had crashes on the old drive.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled FL Studio, Native Access, and Kontakt.

Any idea where I could start troubleshooting?

While the screen is like this, I can still hear the instrument playing and looping as I would expect it to. However, the Chorts track doesn't play.

The recommendation from NI for Windows is NTFS format - https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014663958-Notes-on-Network-Drives-and-Disk-Formats. If you're getting disk overloads that might be a cause.

Has anything changed on your computer since it was working, apart from reinstalling Windows? Did you install the same Windows version, or later version? Different version of drivers/FL/Kontakt or anything? Do you have another audio interface you could try, possibly onboard audio? Checking that would eliminate at least one potential problem.

No worries? These are all good things to check.

Both were Windows 11.

I believe I installed the newer version of FL Studio.

I also believe I have the most recent version of Kontakt 8.

I don't have a dedicated sound card; I just use the onboard audio, windows default audio, and my headphones.

When the installation permits, I save the instruments (vst) to my dedicated audio SSD, rather than to Program Files/Common Files. Could this be an issue?

Because the Kontakt content is so huge, I definitely want those on my dedicated external drive. But should I have the VST3 files in Common Files?

When I play some instruments, I noticed that the disk usage value turns red, then the sound cuts out.

My SSD was formatted as exFAT out of the box. Would it make a difference if it was formatted as NTFS?
