Kontakt Plugin - used in Finale

Hello,

I have a problem. I used to have Kontakt 6, then Kontakt 7, and now I have uninstalled Kontakt 6. However, it seems that my program Finale still remembers a way to Kontakt 6. Probably, Kontakt uses the same plugin for all versions. It is located here: C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\VSTPlugins 64 bit.

WHERE THE ERROR IS:I have a Multi .nkm file in Kontakt 7. This file was created with Kontakt 7, and I can load this file in Kontakt 7.
But I cannot load it in the VST Viewer in Finale!
It shows up as if it’s trying to use Kontakt 6 again! But this version is uninstalled from my PC. I have restarted my PC multiple times and also reconfigured the Kontakt plugin in Finale. What should I do now?
If there’s only one plugin for all Kontakt versions, how can I solve this?
And I want to mention again that this file works in Kontakt 7! And on my Windows, only Kontakt 7 is installed.

    Kontakt 7 is VST3 only.

    So, the .dll you have in your Program Files (a VST2 obviously), is a relic from the older installation.

    Your project was made with the older, VST2 version, that's why Finale sees this .dll and not the newer .vst3

    The good thing is that, Kontakt 7 can do a VST2 to VST3 migration, automatically. Just delete this old .dll.

    The bad thing is that, i don't know if your program, Finale, supports it!

    To support it, Finale need to use the VST3 SDK 3.7.5 (IPluginCompatibility interface) otherwise it won't work.

    If Finale does not support this option yet, then you should ask them to do so.
    Basically, it is a Steinberg's protocol and Native Instruments has nothing to do with it.

    Should I really delete the dll in Native Instruments? But then what should I set in Finale? I don't have any other plugin. The “funniest” thing: I bought some VST3 plugin specifically for Cinematic, but I can't find it in my PC...

    VST3 are not .dll files. They are .vst3 files

    They are stored on PC at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
    All your VST3 plugins goes there, automatically (including Native Instruments of course).

    If your software can not find them (this can be happen only if it is a very old program) then add the above path manually, in Finale options (such as a plugin manager or whatever it uses.).

    Do not delete your dll for now.
    First, make sure Finale finds the VST3 plugins.
    Then make sure that it loads Kontakt 7 VST3.
    If you successfully do those 2 options then you can safely delete the .dll
    or just back it up on another folder, so Finale can't see it.

    Either way, I strongly suggest you to move to VST3 asap, since 2025 is the final year that Steinberg and all other major developers supports VST2.

    Yes, thank you! I found vst3. But Finale won't develop it anymore. There is only one way left: export the scores via xml to Dorico and use Kontakt7 with libraries that are supported by vst3.

    P:S: Sinematic cannot play in the Final via Contact, but it can play using Noteperformer via Noteperformer Playback Engines!
