Do I need to install Kontakt 6

I’m new to NI and just purchased a Kontrol S-49 Mk3. Since the software is a new install on my Mac Mini M1, do I need Kontakt 6 or can I just install Kontakt 7 & 8?

Well, it depends. If you used Kontakt 6 in old projects you might need it. Only a handful of DAWs, like Logic, Cubase, pro Tools and Maschine have auto migration: Notes about Auto-Migration of Kontakt Versions in DAW Projects
