Hi,
So I successfully migrated my big Cubase orchestral template from K7 to K8, but noticed a very problematic issue.
This Cubase template relies of enabling and disabling tracks, to make them active in the project and save ressources. I immediately noticed the "disabling time" went significantly longer with K8, with a lot of different sample libraries. Actually, I think all my NKS compatible libraries are suffering from this, to various degrees. No difference at all on non-NKS libraries.
For instance, disabling the track "Trumpet 2" from Berlin Brass (yes, Kontakt version) is about 1-2 seconds in K7, but more than 20 seconds with K8.
Here is the catch : if I rebuild this "Trumpet 2" patch from scratch in K8, I'm back to much faster enabling/disabling times (going from 20 seconds to less than 1 second, so a huge difference).
So my guess is that those tracks migrated from previous Kontakt instances suffer from some kind of background scanning.
Please, NI, could you have a look and see if you can confirm this ? This is 100% reproducible in my case - and I'm wondering if this is also connected to the "long project saving time" issue which has been also reported on the forum.
I really hope I don't have to rebuild this whole template…again :)
Cheers,
Emmanuel
