Using my Kontakt library in my DAW

Lifelong musician who’s lived a long life here… I jumped headlong into the world of home recording and every self-preservation instinct I have is now screaming, “RUN!”

Started with a M2 Mini-mac with 1T SSD. Added an Apollo Twin. Am using the LUNA DAW and have purchased a big bundle of UA plugins. So far, so good. I’ve done some basic recording - of guitar, bass, keyboard and midi using the UA plugins.

I was looking for a suite of folk instruments and stumbled onto Spitfire’s Hearth and Home. Bought it, downloaded it, installed and licensed it. Then it says it needs something called Kontakt… Say whaaaaat??

Ok, I’ve buried the lead but I’m stumped. FWIW I did get Kontakt downloaded and installed and my Hearth and Home shows up in the Kontakt library. So, I’m expecting I can go into Luna DAW and find a banjo plugin. Nope, not there. I understand that this is native, i.e. stored on the HD, not within Luna. But surely there has to be a way to export the folk instruments into my DAW.

I’d greatly appreciate any help. Well hell, I’m begging… Please. 🙏

When you create your instrument track in Luna you should see Kontakt 7 in the list of instruments like this

Load that, and you should see your instrument inside Kontakt. If not let us know and we'll try to help further.

Unfortunately - Luna does not support third party VST plugins of any kind that I can see.

If you want to use that shiny new Kontakt/Spitfire combo - you will need to consider another DAW that supports the third party world of plugins.

From what I can see then Luna says to support Audio Unit (AU) plug-ins. and Kontakt 7 says : SUPPORTED INTERFACES macOS (64-bit only): Stand-alone, VST3, AU

So to me then at a glance it appears as if it should be able to work using AU plugin format ?

So perhaps you need to open an instance of Kontakt 7 AU plugin in your DAW and in Kontakt open the "Hearth and Hollow" Spitfire library ? and the banjo there ? (I only found "Hearth and Hollow" no "Hearth and Home")

Thank you both. @PoorFellow I did see the AU compatibility. I will look again for a Kompakt AU plugin within Luna but am not seeing one. Perhaps it is in another file?

Ah yes, Hearth and Hollow… I believe Hearth and Home is a home goods store. Funny.

For the AU plugins to appear you of course must have chosen to install them , if you did then please check this knowledge base article to find your plugins ! : My NI Software Does Not Appear in my DAW

Also of course if you can not find your plugins it could also be because of an error. All , N.I. apps as well as DAW should be given full disk access on your Mac and the Mac disks should be of the specified format. But no reason to create problems if there are none. So please check if you can find your plugins first ! 🙂
