Sound previews in Kontakt 7.

Probably a real newbie question. Where are the sound previews kept and what file type are they? Many Libraries that show up in K7 don't have the preview facility. Can they be added or created by a user?

Its and incredibly useful function as I know many Komplete Control users attest to, but as I don't use KK in my workflow Im unfamiliar with its mechanics.

Please respond in the way that you might to a backward child.

Thanks.

Make sure you have the "Native Browser Preview Library" product installed in Native Access. This will add a lot of previews for older Player libraries.

    Done.

    Thank you.

But my question is what are the data files required(supplied) and can a use create them for libraries that don't contain them?

The previews are OGG files. I think that if the developers of the non player libraries don't provide them you should record them yourself and then save them with extension .nki.ogg

    There's a thread about that: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/make-nks-like-previews-for-kontakt-instruments-without-libraries.325074/

Is there no preview auto-generator to batch automate this process of making clips for Kontakt patches?

    A workflow like this:

    1. I point a tool at a vintage 3rd-party Kontakt library (say, dating back a decade or so).
    2. I select whether I want the preview audition sound to be a test tone, a riff, etc.
    3. I run the tool and it generates all the previews and links them to the library.
