midi 2 is not working

I have a s61 mk3 controller
Everything works great with midi1.
in MIDI 2 mode, which is supposed to correspond better with the hardware, doesn't work. There's no sound at all.
What am I missing?
Do I need a special template for this? And if so, can I download a ready-made one?

MIDI 2 mode is not recommended, you'll significantly increase the chance of instability and bugs and afaik there is currently zero benefit for end users of using midi 2.

As mentioned by others, I strongly recommend to put your device back in MIDI 1 mode, and try again in a few years when OS, DAW, and Plugin support has matured.

For MIDI 2 to work the DAW also needs to support it but right now most DAWS may not support it well eg Logic. Think of it more as future proofing at this point

You might have to perform additional steps for things to work on Mac when switching Midi version , Ref. : section : On macOS, you need to perform these additional steps

According to this article MacOs has had MIDI 2 built in behind the scenes since Monterey so it’s weird that it is so buggy in Logic. Are there any DAWS that properly support MIDI 2? I don’t use Cubase but it is supposed to be the best DAW for MIDI? The article seems to indicate Multitrack Studio has the most comprehensive MIDI 2 support, has anyone tried that?

OS Support is just the first step, bringing support for MIDI 2 capability enquiry into the DAW and Plugin standards is the next step which is still active WIP. Next would be exposing this functionality to the device scripting layer, and eventually adding support for specific MIDI 2 profiles that are actually useful to consumers.

Given how long all of this is going to take and that we already support high resolution parameter changes over MIDI 1 in the latest 2.0 firmware update, I couldn't recommend anyone to enable MIDI 2 in good faith unless you are testing a very specific use case and are aware of the consequences
