Hey all!
Matt from the Kontakt team with an important update. Please see below:
• Kontakt 8.6 is due to release imminently (targeting August 6th).
• Routine testing revealed that a necessary update to an internal code library introduced an incompatibility between Kontakt 8.6 and Creator Tools 1.5.2.
• We have already identified a future compatible fix, and are investigating a backwards compatible fix to avoid builders having to maintain two versions of Creator Tools (one for Kontakt 8.5.1 and lower, the other for Kontakt 8.6 and higher).
• Either fix will require a new release of Creator Tools (e.g. 1.5.3).
• Given the importance of a stable toolkit, we’re taking more time to ensure the stability of this fix, and to perform more extensive regression testing with this next version of Creator Tools.
• Testing this comprehensive cannot be rushed in the space of a week. Therefore, it will not be ready in time for the Kontakt 8.6 rollout. Hence, Kontakt 8.6 will ship with the following release note:
KNOWN This version is incompatible with Creator Tools 1.5.2. Please continue to build with Kontakt 8.5.1 or lower; a fix is coming soon.
• It’s worth noting that Kontakt 8.6 includes some new features for composer/producers, but nothing builder specific that an instrument builder would need or want to take advantage of.
• I would advise anyone building content with Kontakt, who relies on Creator Tools, to stick with Kontakt 8.5.1 in order to remain compatible with Creator Tools 1.5.2.
• The fix(es) will release publicly in either Kontakt 8.6.1 (late August) or Kontakt 8.7 (mid September), depending on what if any additional issues emerge that require resolution. Again, we want to ensure stability.
• If you’d like to help us with this testing effort, please let me/us know. We can offer access to the new versions of both Kontakt and Creator Tools, and the option to rollback at any time. In return, we’d ask for any bugs or errors to be reported. If you're already in our beta program you would be seeing such things roll out over the next few weeks.
Best,
Matt
