Transport Controls on A61 with GarageBand on Mac M2 not working

I've tried every tutorial, video, and NI article that I could find to get my A61's transport controls working. From the getgo I haven't been able to use them. I tried everything in this article:

…and now I can't even get sound from KK or Kontact 8 into GarageBand at all. Please help—I have no idea what to do next and regret purchasing this keyboard. :(
