hello, please enlighten me on my problem. I use the native kontakt 8 standalone tool in Windows 10 and I don't understand why when I start kontakt and I look in the task manager I see how the processor speed decreases. when kontakt is turned off the processor goes up and works, it oscillates at a speed between 4.7-4.9 ghz when I turn on the contact it drops instantly to 3-3.3 ghz. I mention that the multiprocessor function is activated at (6) the processor has so many cores. I tried to set the multiprocessor function /off. but the cpu speed still decreases. what is the explanation?is there something wrong with my system/configuration?i am using rme ucx2 audio interface. with a dell 5411 i7 "6core 12 thread 2.7 -5.1 ghz" gen10 laptop. the windows system is optimized for high performance. please help me understand what is happening.

I have similar problems with my CPU spiking and crashing my sessions while using Kontakt 8 on MacOS Monterey. I have tried enabling full disk access as advised by @Jeremy_NI on several other chats, but the problem still persists. Today, I read someone saying that they had to uninstall Kontakt 8 and are using Komplete Kontrol instead. I’m currently trying that and I’ve noticed some improvement in the CPU. However, I’m losing out on access to the updated version of the Kontakt 8 instruments as Komplete Kontrol brings up a message every time I load it to replace a previous Kontakt 8 channel strip.
Additionally, @Jeremy_NI informed on another thread that the recently released Kontakt 8.2 which fixes these issues, is not compatible with Monterey. So, I hope that this is not an issue for you as well, as I hope NI will provide a fix for those of us with older machines and not abandon us to not being able to use and enjoy their product that we just purchased.

I don't think it's a kontakt software or OS/windows problem. I suspect that the decrease in cpu frequency while using kontakt is due to the fact that kontakt uses all cpu cores, if it is set for that. after thinking better, I came to the conclusion that it is normal for the cpu frequency to decrease when all cores are activated by kontakt. the shutdown system itself, without using other software, does not need to use all cpu cores, it works with a single core at a higher frequency, when OS/Windows or a software like Kontakt considers that a single core is not enough, the 2-3 cores come into play... depending on how much is necessary. I don't think that Kontakt requires so many cpu resources to use all the cpu cores at a very high frequency. that's what I think. NI should explain to us so we can understand concretely. there is the possibility to make settings in the bios, so that the cpu frequency does not decrease. enter bios:1.cpu performance/C.state disabled 2. intel speedstep activated.3. in the operating system create a Power plan set to high performance. with these settings, the cpu no longer decreases the frequency when it is in the contact function, set to work with all cores, for me the cpu frequency is at 4.3 4.4 ghz out of 5.1 ghz nax. this happens in my laptop, I don't know how it is in mac OS or in other configurations, I think they are similar.

Your computer probably does not have sufficient cooling. CPU most probably has to decrease CPU clock to keep CPU temperature at reasonable value. Also it is quite common and normal behaviour that CPU runs on lower clock if more cores are under the load…

If you do not have dropouts and so on, I would not care much. If your computer is older, which is probably case, you may ask service to recheck the cooling. Maybe that cooler needs replacement or just cleaning and the paste between CPU and cooler may be too old and should be replaced by new one.

Hello @Kubrak not sure whether your comment is directed at me or @Geky. If it’s to me, I don’t think it has to with my CPU not having sufficient cooling as I didn’t have this problem until I installed Komplete 15 and the new Kontakt 8. My iMac is 2015, 4TB Fusion Drive, i7 processor and 32GB ram which while older now, is not a dinosaur (at least yet). Additionally, there are other discussion threads highlighting a similar problem of project crashes, long saving and opening times and bogging down of projects in DAWs from Kontakt 8 and NI released Kontakt 8.2 a few days ago to address these issues.
As soon I uninstalled kontakt 8 yesterday, my CPU usage drastically dropped and the crashes that were there before was suddenly gone. As such, my money is on Kontakt 8 being the issue and this is evidenced by the other discussion threads on this item.

    I was addressing @Geky.

Over 10 years old i7 is dinosaurus at these times…. Current CPUs are 8-10 times stronger. But sure, there may be some kind of efficiency pronlem in K8 as well. I do not have K8, so I cannot compare.

Loading time problem was also in previous version(s) of Kontakt. I have measured that loading time is proportional buffersize of audio interface. The bigger buffer, the longer time.

@Geky What other symptoms do you experience? Can you give more details to how and where it is happening? What DAW are you using? What libraries are you loading? Where are the libraries installed on your system? On an external hard drive? What is the format of that drive? Have you tried to install the latest Kontakt 8.2 update, it fixes a lot of issues.

@KennyOgunleye Let's stick to the other thread, ok? This will simplify things for OP here. Different operating systems, most probably diffferent causes.

@Jeremy_NI , apologies for commenting on multiple threads. I’ll stick to the original thread. Thanks.
