s88 display and knobs won't change focus when selecting different track

Hi.

I have different tracks each with a different instance of Kontakt.

When I change the selected track, sound changes but the display and knobs on the s88 mk3 won’t change focus to it. They just stay showing the image and controls of the last created track (with Kontakt or komplete kontrol). Sound does change to the corresponding track though.

I’m using Reaper 7.29 and m1 MacBook.

S88 is enabled both as midi and daw in midi inputs and outputs.

I’ve tried disabling and enabling, resetting midi devices.

I've also resintalled komplete kontrol and hardware connection service

This happens both with Kontakt 7.10.6 or Komplete Kontrol 3.3.4 (last version)

Thanks !

As of January 2025, Native Instruments' Komplete Kontrol MK3 keyboards do not offer official integration with Reaper, meaning features like automatic track focus are not natively supported. However, the open-source project "DrivenByMoss" provides a workaround for enhanced integration between Komplete Kontrol MK3 keyboards and Reaper.

    Setting Up "DrivenByMoss" for Reaper:

    1. Download and Install:
      • Visit the DrivenByMoss website to download the latest version compatible with your system.
      • Follow the installation instructions provided on the site to integrate it with Reaper.
    2. Configure Reaper:
      • Launch Reaper and navigate to the preferences menu.
      • Under the "Control/OSC/Web" section, add a new control surface and select the appropriate "DrivenByMoss" option for your Komplete Kontrol MK3 keyboard.
      • Ensure that the MIDI input and output settings correspond to your Komplete Kontrol device.
    3. Enable Automatic Track Focus:
      • Within the "DrivenByMoss" settings, enable the automatic track focus feature.
      • This configuration allows the Komplete Kontrol MK3 to automatically focus on the selected track in Reaper, facilitating seamless control over your virtual instruments.

Please note that while "DrivenByMoss" enhances integration, it may not provide the full range of features available in officially supported DAWs. Additionally, some users have reported stability issues when using Komplete Kontrol software with Reaper. It's advisable to test the setup thoroughly to ensure it meets your workflow requirements.

Thanks! I actually already had drivenbymoss running, and couldn't find the "enable automatic track focus" feature, but saw the midi in/outs in drivenbymoss where messed up. That fixed it. Thanks again

Hey Juanse, can you please expound on how you messed up the midi in/outs. I too am having issues with Mk3 and Reaper (really frustrating that before I bought it an NI rep on this forum said support was coming, but I digress). Anyway, I can't seem to get consistent results with my buttons working, the focus tracking right, or even having them lit up consistently. Thanks!

In the drivenbymoss configuration, midi in/outs where on S88mk3 MAIN. I switched them to DAW (image below) and now its working perfectly. s88's display switches focus to selected track, and DAW control is also working correctly. Also in reaper settings I have s88 mk3 DAW, EXT and MAIN all enabled. (which I think is not what Moss recommends, but is working for me.)

Thank you for the response. It might be an Apple vs PC thing, but I don't have KONTROL S88 MK3 DAW as an option. I have KONTROL S88 MK3 DAW set for the 2 inputs, then MIDIOUT2 (KONTROL S88 MK3) and MIDIOUT3 (KONTROL S88 MK3) for Midi Outputs 1 and 2. I tried setting them all the KONTROL S88 MK3 but it made my control and focus options worse. I'm very confused. Thank you any way though.
