Fix for error message 'file access error'.
A 'file access error' message has come up on Kontakt 6 when I tried to load samples from my Elite Orchestral Percussion library (Big Fish Audio) for a new multi. My existing multis work fine and I haven't change the location of the library. And help appreciated - thanks Chris

Can you share a screenshot of the error message? Is this happening in Kontakt in standalone, in a DAW? Both? What DAW? What's your operating system? Where is the library installed?

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for your reply to my query.
In response to your questions: 1-Three pix are attached; 2-Problem is in both Kontakt standalone & in DAW as a plugin; 3-DAW is Finale V27.4 (latest version); 4-Operating system Windows 10; 5-Library is on the computer’s hard drive in C:\User\Public\Documents\Elite Orchestral Percussion.
I’m now wondering whether the problems is with the library itself rather than Kontakt …?
Thanks for your help Cheers Chris

Have you updated this library? What are the system requirements? What version of Kontakt 6 is this exactly?

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for getting back to me.
The Elite Orchestral Percussion Library is from ViR2 Instruments which I purchased in 2021. I believe it’s the latest version but will check back with ViR2 – I can’t see any updates available on their site. Requirements in the documentation are 4GB RAM, 22GB drive space and Kontakt Player 5.6.8 or higher.
The specific instruments I’m trying to set up are in a Suspended Cymbals folder. They now seem to be loading into Kontakt 6 plug in version in Finale but there is still no sound from or coloured range information on the onscreen keyboard.
The MIDI channel indicator flicks on and off when samples are played on the keyboard and the information panel shows the sample information eg F0 Flam (Single) etc.
The Kontakt info panel below the keyboard has the message Library: Elite Orchestral Percussion; Created By: Kontakt V4.2.2.4504.
My Kontakt is: License Type: Full, Plugin: VST2, Version: 6.8.0 (R0)
My inclination is towards corrupt file(s) in the Suspended Cymbals Folder - I’ll follow this up with ViR2. Or am I missing something elsewhere?
Regards & thanks Chris

Well, if the issue was not present before, a corrupt file of some sort could be the culprit. Have you tried uninstalling the library and re-downloading it/reinstalling it?
If you hadn"t used this suspended Cymbal instrument before that could indicate an issue with the library, so you did well to contact their support. Let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks for your help Jeremy - much appreciated! It has narrowed down the problem to the library as I've now tested the other folders which are working properly. ViR2 support are looking at the issue and have been in touch asking for more information etc I'll work with them to resolve the problem.
Thanks & cheers Chris
