Kontakt 8 won't find samples but showing the correct path

Hi,

a library is missing its files. I use Spotlight - no. I point Kontakt to exactly that folder - no.

What I am missing here?

More Infos:

  • sometimes Search Spotlight finds missing libraries (others than this here), sometimes not. Why?
  • sometimes Kontakt memorizes that path after using Search Spotlight, sometimes after re-loading they are missing again. Why?

Cheers!

It looks like you're on Mac right?

Did you move contetnt afetr installation?

How does the library look like in Native Access? Installed/to repair?

Did you install your libraries on an external hard drive? What's the format of that hard drive? It should be APFS: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

Hi! Yes, I am on Mac and using APFS for my new external SSD. Yes, I moved the content but I pointed Kontakt to that directory with no success. why?

No, this library isn't available via NA.

    Best!

Well you should move content with Native Access, how do the libraries show there?

Why should they show up in NA, is it a must now? I own many libraries never show up in NA and they don't have to. Still working with them, well in the past I did.

Did NI changed that in the last 4-5 years, and now with Kontakt 8 this isn't allowed anymore, then I did not get that update.

It's been like that for a while, since Native Access was introduced, so after Kontakt 5.8 or something like that. This is where you install the libraries, activate then, move them and Kontakt takes it's information from it.

Moving a Native Instruments Product to Another Location on Your Computer

Using the Repair / Relocate Function in Native Access

And there's even a Locate all feature in Native Access so you don't have to reinstall your libraries on a new system.

Ah interesting. I missed that, indeed. Then I have 2 follow up questions, both visible in the picture.

    1. Maintenance → Locate Product Content → I choose my 2TB external SSD = it doesn't find anything. Question: What file is NA looking for? I can't have all nki/ nkr/ nkc files on the top folder level, right?
    2. Do you know 99 sounds or similar? They will never show up in NA, as they aren't big companies, more freebies for Kontakt. How should I deal with them then?

Does it come with a serial number? Have you checked the installation instructions? This looks like a nki file, not the usual nicnt file for activation, so very likely that it's a non Player library. In this case, you can use this feature: How to Add Non-Player Libraries to Kontakt 7 / 8's Browser

Please refer to the manufacturer installation instructions.

None of this worked with Keep-Forest AizerX Cyberpunk Trailer Toolkit. Does anyone have this? Did you encounter this as well? This library does not come with a serial number.

I have several of their products, one of which has a serial number and can be installed through Native Access. The other ones were manually installed and work perfectly fine. For some reason this one won't do right. I've emailed keep-forest but still waiting on a reply so I thought I'd see if there was any sage knowledge around here.

I added the Cyberpunk Trailer library manually in Kontakt 8 as suggested in the supplied links and the library shows up in Kontakt 8. Whenever I try to load one of the AizerX Cyberpunk instruments, Kontakt keeps saying the samples aren't found (.ncw format). I then click to resolve it and it LITERALLY opens the directory with the sample info and I have to manually add them by resolving manually since it appears all the 'fix automatically' buttons seem to map to a null function.

One can surely sympathize that I'm not doing this for 10,000 files - especially when the resolve manually ⇒ browse for folder doesn't work **EVEN WHEN IT'S EXPLICITLY SENT TO THE FOLDER, SCANS THE FOLDER, FINDS THE FILES** and then completely fails to act what it found.

Add to the the fact that each time the finder window opens (Mac OSX) that it resizes and repositions the window over the NI dialog box so I have to scroll for each file —- especially when you literally have an 'I can fix this for you' option that unfortunately doesn't work reliably. This functionality needs much love and attention from NI. I hate to rant but it's maddening.
