Anyone designing Steve Wilson patches for Guitar Rig? (Porcupine Tree)
Hi All,
I've been admiring Steve Wilson's guitar tones on a variety of his albums. Has anyone spent any time trying to craft sounds with Guitar Rig that approach his guitar tones?
Would love to hear about it or try any patches you've made if you are willing to share.
Of special interest: Blackest Eyes (starting sec 22)
Thanks!

a rig rundown is a video or something where a guitarist (or other artists) shows the tools he uses, the pedal board, the amps in case of guitarists. Here for example, there is also a link below the video where they show the stuff in detail:

Hello,
im not a guitarist myself but often you can fing rig rundowns for almost all guitarists and use the information as a starting point for your own patches.

Hi Uwe,
Thanks for responding so fast! Forgive me for asking, but what is a Rig rundown? And where would I find them for Steve Wilson, or porcupine tree or other artists?

Hi Uwe,
thanks again! Very helpful to understand his setup. How this might translate to Guitar Rig specific modules was really my question. I will continue to experiment. Was kind of hoping there were some Porcupine Tree fans out there who had already beat me to it. It is useful to understand how he routes his signal, that is not exactly typical.

Yeah that's really the question, I think the "clean" sounds with vibrato or tremolo + a bit reverb/ or delayand so on should be no problem, his eq (pedal) setting, with lowering the mid a bit and boosting the heights (as far as I could see), you also find photos of his amp with the settings there, also eq and so on should be no problem. He uses it for the most basic sound just the eq into the amp clean channel, as amp I would try really the ramfire, cause it's a mesa boogie and the bat cat guys are from mesa boogie as far as I could find out. As far as I know most of those companies copied the circuits anyway from each other since the 50/60ies, more or less and changed a bit here and there. There are also more videos out there where you can grab good information out of each and combine that

Maybe the best video, if you need some further help just ask, I'm not a guitar player myself but have some experience with that kind of stuff.
