Komplete Kontrol 3x Updates Roadmap ?

I appreciate your concern on the specifics of the request to fix, as someone who has been in technical repair, testing and support for many years I know damn well when something needs to be fixed as opposed to improved.
Banks are broken, admitted some time ago that they would be addressed this year, the sub bank missing in many cases, it was admitted this was not by design and was an issue slated to be addressed in 2025. This means it needs to be fixed.
Accessibility is completely missing so it is something that needs to be addressed. It does not work because it is not there, therefore it has to be fixed so people who have relied on KK for a decade can actually use the latest version. No idea how you can say to this that it is "functional as designed". A huge portion of the userbase I directly deal with are visually impaired people and having a daughter with a hearing disability I can tell you, it does not bode well at all when you rely on something that was developed for you only to have it taken away because you are a minority in the overall plan. That seems kind of naive to suggest it is functional as designed!
The browser is far less functional in how it works than how it use to work, not just in workflow but in actual usage, not like it was. Now you could sit here and argue semantics over the proper use case for the word "fixed" but if you take something that functioned fine and made it worse than it was, you would typically say "we need to fix that". I am first talking about reported bugs and issues that need to be fixed.
I mean this:
Is in no way an improved version of this:
I know what I prefer to use, seems broken or crippled to me but this is an opinion.
The actual issues: There are issues in just scrolling presets, it is far slower and there there is even a whole thread of users complaining of this same issue which you would be aware of. There is also the added request on top of this slew of problems that we would like to also have the browser pinned like it was before, have it available when also viewing the plugin (like it was before) and also have the browser on the keyboard actually control the on-screen browser (as it did before). These are requests on top.
The reason things don't get fixed is because people just accept it after a while and simply have the mindset "well, probably about as good as it gets, why bother" and then companies like NI eventually say "Well we haven't done anything there because our statistics show not enough people have requested it…" It also helps to bring these points to people that are not fully aware or have forgotten.
So yes, all points mentioned need attention and need to be fixed as they are non functional, completely missing or less functional and buggy than they were before. As long as they are not, the only real input I have here is to constantly remind of how much of a downgrade KK is in these areas.
I would think as someone yourself who is also displeased with the functionality of KK you would be on the side to rally for change, not argue over the specifics of the words used

I love to hold the DEVS to a higher standard and especially with KKv3 - which I have been harping on since it came out.
However:
"I'd like to know where this larger majority / userbase is that wouldn't want the features that worked well before, to then lose them. Maybe you meant to say, for the userbase that never knew any better"
I can tell you exactly where this "larger" majority are not - in here.
If you really think the 18 or 74 or 102 of us in these forums - bashing it out daily about what "we" think something should be - actually represents the possible tens of thousands of users - actually USING KKv3 today out there in the big world - and not complaining at all - about anything - you need to give yourself a reality check.
NI is huge company with a huge user base. All I am saying is - if this thing was really as bad as "we" (the 18 of us) are really making it out to be - it would been changed long ago.
As much as I would love to see KKv3 "catchup" to the very mature v2.9.6 - feature for feature - no one ever seems to remember that KKv2 was built by a different NI - one from the distant past where direction was different, the vibe was different and most importantly - the owner was different.
Always hoping something cool, will happen - but I am also realistic. KKv3 has been out since Oct 2023. That is a lot of water under the bridge.
Sometimes - a small smattering of squeaky wheels still do not get the grease.

I value your opinion as always - and I do apologize - some great examples here that frankly - I never really thought about (but probably should have)
"I would think as someone yourself who is also displeased with the functionality of KK you would be on the side to rally for change, not argue over the specifics of the words used"
You are right - I am displeased. So displeased in fact that I have never even installed KKv3 to see what it feels like. And you of all people know that I have rallied for change on this since Oct 2023.
But like I mentioned in my response to @trusampler - we have been harping on this thing for almost 18 months now. We are at v3.3.4. That is very big version number (and time block) to keep assuming massive changes to this thing are coming "soon" to a KK near me.
Just starting to feel like my voice is wearing a tad thin - you dig?

Vocalpoint,
If you google these same issues, you'll find them not only in the NI forum, but YouTube, Gearspace, Reddit, Facebook,VI-Control anywhere NI and Komplete Kontrol v3 are being discussed.
The people who take the time to vocally email support,or voice their opinions on forums, or social media are those that are willing to speak, and seek help. That doesn't mean others who don't aren't affected by it, nor does this rationalize NI's behavior.
If you've followed NI like the rest of us have for many years, you would know, this has been one of the major complaints in how their developers and their company does business. EG: The Kore 2 debacle ( Please lets not act like what I'm saying is somehow a new complaint )
This is common knowledge, and when you come into the forum with an opinion otherwise trying to defend this company I think this is where people see you acting as a company man. No offense, but if you're not for our cause you're just seeking attention.
We're here to get our issues resolved, and we really don't need another company man defending their decisions to continue screwing over their customers.
Besides haven't you publicly said, you don't even use a KK MK3 / KK V3 ? What's your concern with our desire to get our issues addressed, on a version of the software, you claim you don't even use ?

Please notice to anyone taking notes, Vocalpoint does not use Komplete Kontrol V3 nor does he own a Komplete Kontrol S series Keyboard. So his opinion is just that, an opinion of someone on the sideline unaffected in anyway shape or form.
Similar to a Monday night quarterback.
On the other hand, every other person that’s seeking answers from NI development is truly concerned and financially connected with this product, so please recognize this when reading his posts.
If it were my guess, I’d say he’s someone that feeds off opposing the same team he should be in support of, the customers.
With all due respect VP you truly don’t have a voice that matters with regards to these particular products KK MK3 and KK V3, when you claim you don’t even support NI’s latest products mentioned that we're all seeking support for.1 -
Dude - I have been an NI customer since 2001. Do not need your finger wagging lecturing me on "following" the company.
To be clear - I am not defending any lack of development here. Or shilling anything. I am merely questioning the reality of it actually occurring.
Like you (as a Komplete S-Series user) - I was right there the day KKv3 was released - totally stoked and right ready to jump on board - until I found out what was being served up.
Wasn't happy then and am not happy now - my position has not changed. I am just fine with KKv2 - it works and is solid.
I am just starting to see the futility in ragging on this topic after 18 months.
Action speaks - words do not. Haven't seen any yet.

ignore vp, hes a troll, all he does is argue with people, i think he might even be an ai bot with stock responces

Let me correct you before you hurt yourself.
Have an S61 MKII since 2020. Use KKv2 everyday. Am still eyeing up the S-Series MKIII - but KKv3 is not there yet.
Fully support the effort and have since Oct 2023

Vocalpoint,
Ok so we should just say forget it, and move on right ? Or is it ok with you if we try to communicate in the public forum, and try to get answers from this company we invested in ?
Is that Okay with you ?

How about an answer from someone Native Instruments, perhaps we can try @Chris_NI that's willing to offer us some information, seems like it's your turn to answer the questions we have regarding the updates for Komplete Kontrol V3 and the MK3 hardware.
I think to be fair as others have noted, we've been waiting along time for some some substantial updates, it'd be great to get an actual timeline of when these developers are going to release. Or even a screw off we ain't updating nothing, to know where we stand!

Yep, I dig. I have been here for over 10 years (since v1.1) rallying for the same things and watching all the years pass by without a single thing being actioned which is why I no longer invest my time here to really help and support users or contribute to beta testing and why my demeanor on the matter is pretty blunt.
Likely I have a similar outlook in terms of functionality as you do so it is good that my views are not isolated, I know many others have the same view but some of the other long term users have gone silent somewhat or just left completely. I know a few that emailed me direct to thank me personally for all my support over the years but decided with the release of V3 they are moving onto other solutions because they just gave up on waiting for change (like having FX and Instrument chains able to be saved for live performances etc…)
I am in a different position than most, I am not always pushing for certain things because it personally affects me. Accessibility is something I do not need but am still saddened that this is an "afterthought" still not taken with any seriousness over a YEAR after KKV3 was released. STILL there are new KK users who had a keyboard gifted 2 Christmases ago now that are not able to use what they believed they could based on the research they had done. I even recommended with pride to someone who asked me direct based on coming across my site and they were so delighted they could buy their son a keyboard that he could actually use himself for xmas… Then the MK3 was released and they had no clue (as did I at the time) Accessibility was not included in the new model and were told this is on the planned list soon…
How sad you think that is? Instead they focus on new features for MK3 users without any regard for what they took away from disabled users. Really sours my view TBH and I feel some people making these decisions should be ashamed of this fact. They obviously have no clue how it feels when your child is excluded from something they were excited about due to their disability, I personally DO know what that is like and it is terrible to watch as a parent! Certainly does make people feel like an unimportant minority due to not being statistically important. A big reason I have invested 10 years of my life to support the NKS work I do is because of the constant feedback from these users that it is life changing for them, don't know if I could have sustained my involvement for this long without understanding this and having a daughter with a disability helps understand just how important things like this are.
As you know, KK V2 in the way it works and it's primary core function of being a preset browser to work faster with a project does this pretty damn well (even for unsighted users). Software has it's rough edges and limits but for this it was lite, fast and pretty stable and in all this time, there was little negative feedback at all about KK, just requests for new features and an updated GUI (mostly for larger displays). What V3 did was take that one working aspect and fractured it and even after the year of updates, it's still nowhere close to what it was in stability or efficiency. IMHO V3 is a broken shell of its former self that has a lot of things that need to be fixed just to bring it up to the standard it was, let alone propelling it forward beyond that point.
And yes we are at v3.3.1, but apart from specific MK3 keyboard features and issues related to OS or DAW compatibility, nothing to address the highlighted concerns at all.

I know we all have opinions (I HAVE SOME SERIOUS ONES), but I think arguing about the same thing over and over between 3-4 of you is fine, if that's what floats your boat, but it can get a little tiresome reading the same thing in different threads.
I want more features, and some level of parity in what V2 / V3 can do, but this thread is asking for a roadmap - something that I was expecting in January, given August was the last time (I think) any kind of KK vision was discussed.
The challenge is @Matthew_NI is not longer heading up KK, while @Chris_NI us, I know product owners can be busy, but might be worth saying hello, Chris.
Until then, if a moderator is around, maybe worth pointing people back in the direction of the original aim of this post.4 -
Well said thank you ! Yes that's all we want are some answers.

You have me totally wrong. I will be just as thrilled as you if something new comes to pass.
Keep up the good fight. But while you are doing that - recognize that for some of us - who were there on Sept 12. 2023 - and have been on this bandwagon sine then - are tired.
And I agree with @Vagus - this thread was about a roadmap - not fighting about what is and what is not.
Let's try and steer this back into it's lane. Only NI can tell us where this is going to go.

Sounds good to me VP,I agree.. I hope we can hear some good news soon.
