Remove all libraries from side pane

I dont quite know what happened but somehow ALL of my libraries repopulated my side pane. I know that I can go in and "hide" them one by one, but that would be slow and take forever. Is there a file that can be deleted that will just remove all the libraries from the side panel in one quick deletion?

What version of Kontakt are we talking about?

Kontakt 8. But Id imagine the same solution would apply to 7.

Ok so to be clear you want to remove some libraries from the classic browser but not in the new browser? If that is the case then doing it manually in the options, in the Libraries section, you can untick the libraries you don't want to show.

Thanks for the response, Jeremy, but no. Please reread my OP.

I am totally aware of the general functionality of Kontakt but what I want to do is remove ALL the libraries in the Left Pane by deleting…what? There must be a db file somewhere that contains this specific information. I have literally hundreds of libraries that have suddenly populated the window and deleting them one by one will literally take me hours and hours.

Easier to just turn off the whole pane.

That said - not understanding why you would want a completely empty left panel…

Huh? No. I need to purge it of the hundreds of libraries so that I can repopulate it with the few that I need which are project specific. I simply need to delete whatever database file contains and reserves that specific information. Kontakt has no obvious option for selecting and deleting multiple libraries.

Can you show us a screencap? Is this a case of "I have 50 libraries but only want to see 5?"

If so - @Jeremy_NI gave you the solution.

If you are talking about actual removal of libraries - the only correct way to do this is to uninstall them completely - not by purging the DB file.

You cannot just delete the DB and then "cherry pick" what you want to see in that pane.

That move (I believe) will simply see Kontakt just repopulate the DB again (getting it's marching orders from whatever installed libraries are coming from Native Access) putting you right back where you are now.

I dont believe that is correct. I was screwing around with Kontakt years ago and managed to do precisely what Im now requesting, but haven't the vaguest idea how I did it.

Im not sure why my question is so perplexing. I want to keep all my libraries but remove them from the side panel. I COULD remove them one by one but that would take forever as Kontakt wont allow multiple select/delete. Thus my question regarding where that db is located.

Im not sure what you're asking me to take a screenshot of or how that would help.

    But any help is appreciated.

I need to purge it of the hundreds of libraries so that I can repopulate it with the few that I need which are project specific.

I don't feel like having to back up everything to experiment with this to eventually answer your question.

But as I see it then there is a way to at least attain some clarity since you can sort the libraries which will allow you to drag and drop those that you prefer most to e.g. top of list after which you then only need to go to top of list to have what you want which is the list of those most used. To manually sort then one just needs to turn off the A-Z sorting.

The small arrow in lower right side of library also expands into a list which shows an option to hide the library (I don't know if pressing e.g. DELete wil while having selected the library will do the same)

Well - you gotta do what you gotta do.

Your question is perplexing (to me anyway) because you have the only acceptable (and fully supported) solution but refuse to accept that method.

Can't speak for anyone else - but I am not comfortable giving you instruction (beyond the ones supplied here by NI) to start randomly deleting internal DB files and libraries. That is a recipe for major issues.

Thanks for the attempt, but that is precisely the same as unchecking them in "manage libraries", ie: they must be deleted one by one. Is there really no option to simply delete the database that contains that specific information? Is there really no way to select and delete multiple libraries?

"Well - you gotta do what you gotta do."

Why would I spend hours doing what should literally take a click and delete in just about any other scenario that I can think of with any other product? It seems crazy to me that my question seems crazy to someone else.

When you have THAT many libraries populating the left panel it takes Kontakt ages to open - every single time. So the solution? Delete them….but one by one AND when you have that many libraries to delete it takes up to 30 seconds per library to actually delete them as I guess it is purging the database. Admittedly the process speeds up as the purge continues, but still…

I think @Vocalpoint made it clear here. Either you untick the libraries fro them not to show in the browser or if you don't want to use them anymore simply uninstall them. You can now uninstall in Native Access.

Sorry , I have no answer ready with respect to that and it would take far too long for me to do all the work that I would have to do to experiment with this. If you do not like my drag and drop suggestion to lump most used libraries together then I will have to suggest that you ask N.I. Kontakt Support .

In case of you need further guidance : How to contact NI Support

I DO want to use them. I DON'T want them in the side panel.

Looks like there is no way to do it other than one by one.

    Thanks for your help.
