Problem with larger samples, tone is stuck and keeps playing
Dear Colleagues,
I have a problem with larger samples in Kontakt 7 and 8. The tone stuck and keeps playing until the reset of the Kontakt player. This situation does not happen in case of smaller samples. Samples itself are bought directly from NI and it is NI product. The same situation was in Windows and Apple. Virtual controller (function of Kontakt) and midi keyboard does the same. I am using MacOS Sonoma 14.5 Apple M1 processor Max, 64GB, 2TB. Ableton live 12 was used.
Do anyone have experinece with this issue please.
Please find the record attached
Thank you for help!

Can you reproduce the behaviour in Kontakt in standalone? With only one instrument? Do all these Kontakt instruments have a deidicated MIDI channel or are you playing them all at once? Do you use a sustain pedal?
You can check the MIDI channels here:

if you start Kontakt outside of a music program project( Ableton live, Cubase...)everything goes without problems. But when I run Kontakt in a music program, e.g. sample Lores or Piano Colors as one instrument only, under one MIDI channel, sometimes it happens that the tone gets stuck, if I use more instruments under one channel or even split the MIDI channels separately, this error is repeated, but the tone stays ,,sucked,, only for larger sapples, for smaller ones even if there are more under one channel the tone reverts with the release of the key.
Unfortunately this happens on any keyboard, even on the virtual keyboard of Kontakt without any other devices or sustain pedal connected…0 -
I'm having trouble to understand what you mean by small samples and big samples.
What keyboard are you using? Brand/model? Can you make a video of the issue and post it here?

- The video is an attachment in my first post from 25.10.
- big samplers are e.g. over 20 GB, like Lores or Piano Colors and small ones are just smaller ones
- i use a virt. keyboard from Kontakt, Roland RD 700 sx, or Arturia 37 keystep and others, but it is the same for all of them, the type of keyboard does not affect the error...so the fault is not in the keyboard but in the setup or operation of Kontakt 7 and 8, both in Ableton and Cubase.

The Kontakt factory MIDI Monitor multiscript is always helpful when this kind of thing happens - tells you what messages Kontakt is receiving.
KSP(top R)>Preset>Factory>Utilities. Monitor Note On, Note Off, Velocity, MIDI Channel. Switch off everything else. Use Verbose Mode.
Note what happens when you press and release keys, especially if the note hangs. Is a Note Off message on the same channel arriving when you release? Make another video if necessary.

Ok now I understand, by samples you mean libraries. These libraries are usually made of a lot of samples, this is where the confusion came from.
I would suggest also to check what's hgappening when the notes hang in MIDI monitor: How to Monitor the Output of a MIDI Controller
