How to have MIDI generated from plugin inside Komplete Kontrol out to plugin t=in another track?

I know how to have a pattern generator instrument inside Kontakt VST sent to any other MIDI track in Ableton Live. As soon as I home Kontakt inside Komplete Kontrol (AU or VST) there is no MIDI sent out available for other tracks. Is this a limitation of Komplete Kontrol or some settings I'm missing?

I have the Send MIDI to outside world three first options checked. As I say, Everything works fine when using Kontakt. I thought that Komplete was a transparent shell so it would handle the MIDI coming out of Kontakt and pass it through but this is not what is happening. Unless I'm doing something wrong. And obviously, for now, when I use Kontakt plugins that generate patterns, I don't place Kontakt inside Komplete Kontrol. Thanks for your help.

Do you mean Kontakt 7 or Kontakt 8? Do you mean the tools of Kontalt 8, the chords and phrases? These are intended for Kontakt instruments only so it will not perform well with other devices. What you can record with the Komplete Kontrol is the output of the chord and scale functions.

You didn't mention what generation of keyboard you have. The Kontrol MK3 now has standalone features for scale and chords. For previous versions and for the Komplete Kontrol plug-in by itself, this is how to achieve it in Ableton: Ableton Live Guide: Sending MIDI from the Komplete Kontrol Plug-in

I am pretty sure (tho not a mac user) that you need to be using the VST3 version of KK in Live and not the AU version. I recall something about AU plugins and issues routing MIDI but that was from years ago on the Ableton forums and things may have changed since then.

I assume when you say you know how to rout the MIDI that you are simply adding a second MIDI track in Live and selecting the "Midi From" option for the track to the plugin instance of another track then selecting the channel to receive?

I still use KK V2 and can certainly confirm that any plugin (including Kontakt) works as you would expect in that regards so if you are pretty experienced in setting this up and feel it's not working as you would expect, could be another issue with the latest version of KK (tho could also be Kontakt as I still use Kontakt 6 since I dislike the new GUI layouts of Kontakt and KK.

In KK V2 I can see when I load KK on track 1 then select track 2 to receive MIDI from the plugin on track 1 (not track 1 itself but the KK instance loaded within it) I have the full 16 channels to receive on:

Is this not what you see, can you post a screenshot of what you have setup?

I am not talking about the Komplete Keyboard hardware at all. I am talking about loading Kontakt7.vst3 inside Komplete Kontrol.vst3 and route the MIDI out of the pattern generator (of the Kontakt virtual instrument) to another track in, let's say, Ableton Live. It works smoothly when Komplete plugin is not involved.

Picture 1 shows the second track receiving MIDI generated by the Kontakt instrument in previous track. the instrument generates beats and sends MIDI out notes that other tracks can receive. Picture 2 shows the same instruments but Kontakt is loaded inside Komplete Kontrol (2.9). The second instrument receives nothing out of Kontakt→Komplete Kontrol.

In fact I don't try to pass my keyboard live playing from track one to track two. I want to generate beats inside dedicated Kontakt plugins and send the MIDI out to any given other virtual instrument tracks.

Well, then why not just using the Kontakt plug-in? When it comes to MIDI, there's way more options than in Komplete Kontrol.

Make sure to have this enabled:

It's also worth mentioning that on some instruments you might get unwanted notes, some internal scripts include other notes and CCs that you don't necessarily hear and they're not intended to be musical.

You're doing nothing wrong, Komplete Kontrol has limitations. Hopefully you can find a suitable workflow with Kontakt.

I don't understand why Komplete Kontrol has this limitation considering this is also a Native-Instruments plugin like Kontakt. The limitation as I understand it is a programming flaw. NI should fix it. Thanks for your help.
