kontakt reset issue

hello i have a desktop and a laptop.

few days ago my laptop out of the blue said kontakt can't be recognised, open any instance of a player to resolve the issue (or something like that). opened up kontakt in an ableton project and then validated on native access and all good i thought.

1. why does this question even happen out of the blue? sorry no screenshot for this

i opened up the project the next day and found that all my kontakt sounds had reset itself and forgotten the instruments chosen (so no sound is playing now). sadly its happened for all sounds in the project.

2. why does the reset happen and any idea if i can recover my original settings?

I tried opening ableton backups but the reset seems to have happened across the entire project

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I should add that is issue only happened to "substance"
