Doubling the same guitar
To create a more realistic doubled electric guitar sound I use two techniques. The easiest, if you are a guitar player and only have one guitar, is to record the guitar part twice using a different preset in Guitar Rig. I'll start with a different genre for each guitar part, such as Alternative and Rock. Tweaking the drive and eq settings on the amp and making one amp more distant by going for more room sound on one part helps too.
The other technique works if you can play a little keyboard as well as guitar. If you're not so good at keyboard like me, quantizing and editing can bring the parts closer together. You can also use a completely different guitar that you don't own if you have a few of the guitars in Kontakt. Using different amps in Guitar Rig can take even further.
Of course panning one left and one right will complete the desired effect. By using two parts you should reduce any phase issues that might occur with trying to make one part sound like two.
