Feature request: Support for MIDI 2.0 CI and Property Exchange in Kontrol MK3

Since there are living examples of an proper MIDI 2.0 CI and MIDI 2.0 property exchange now, namely all the Korg Wavestate, Opsix, Modwave plugins and their midi 2.0 controller, and DAW vendors are currently evaluating and also implementing MIDI 2.0 stuff (like Bitwig), it would be nice, if the Kontrol MK3 devices will get a "property exchange" midi template mode, so in ideal case, you only switch to that mode, then open such a plugin, and it autoconfigures the knobs, names, colors, grouping, including value pickup, endless knob rotation and such nice stuff.

In my opinion, it is about time for this :)

Maybe you even could use those plugins as a working example… Or ask Korg and Roland for collaboration. Pretty sure the Bitwig team will have an open ear here, too.

Even if everything was auto configured initially, of course it would be nice to be able to customize the config later, for that specific plugin or so.

So from my noob's point of view, your current midi template mode "just" needs an option "auto configure via midi 2.0", and a better preset browser for this mode, being able to group many plugins, just as it is already possible in the Kontrol VST mode.

What do you think about this? And what is the current development state here?

Thank you for information, viewpoints and insights :)

As I understand it, there's a lot of vagueness in the definition so the various implementations right now aren't fully compatible the way they should be and will be once the definitions are more precise. I think everyone is waiting a bit to figure out WHAT to build that will be industry compatible and future-proof.

That's just the natural outcome of establishing standards. It happened in the early days of the Internet and is happening now in this arena. Just be patient.
