I am a better drummer with my roland then I am with the tapping the keys. Currently using logic pro 11. I have all my downloads and hardware updates loaded and seems to be working fine with logic. My question is: Can I use my roland drums to trigger the notes using the s49 software and or plugins? is it as easy as selecting a plug in in the track? or do I need to have the kontrol instrument selected and input my roland into the s49?

It depends on what model Roland you have. Some have MIDI output you can plug and capture a raw MIDI drum track into a DAW based on Roland's MIDI scheme. You may have to do some re-mapping of the MIDI however.

Yes, you can use your Roland TD8 to trigger any instrument loaded in the KK software, in the same way as you use it to trigger any track in Logic, applies the same way to a KK track. If you were using the KK software standalone outside a DAW you would simply need to enable the MIDI input you are using for your TD8
