Massive X needs an update to add poly aftertouch so it can be played to its full extent using the new NI keyboards (as well as several other features it still lacks eg Polyphonic MSEG, User side bank authoring/Tagging improvements and that Step LFO that was hinted at but never added)

So annoying that every time I use it I have to change settings in my Kontrol S61 MKIII to mono aftertouch - all NI instruments (and hosts) need to have better integration with the new keyboards

Massive X needs quite a few improvements but you'll never get them. You can consider this and all their other synths as legacy products.

Well my attitude is, if you start from the premise that change will never happen, it never will. But if you start from the premise that change can happen if enough people fight for it, while that’s no guarantee you will get what you want, the probability is usually going to be greater than zero

You could also start from a premise that if this was a thing and NI felt it was important enough to do - there is a very high likelihood it would have appeared back in Oct 2023 during the launch of the S-Series MKIII.

I mean let's be serious - they have had almost a year now to move on something like this and they have not.

I do not believe this is about a "fight" at all - it's about accepting reality (whose probability is likely 100%)

I think given NI now have a flagship Poly Aftertouch keyboard there is a very good case for adding support for this to their flagship synth so I see no reason to be overly pessimistic about it. Again if everyone accepts what they perceive to be 'reality' nothing get changed, personally I do not see 'reality' as a fixed thing but something that is at least partly co-constructed by what we do or don't do.

How do you want us to show support to your request?

I added a Vote Up to your post, but I see no one else did it, so NI will never see how many of us agree or want to support your request.

Even if many will answer and the thread will become a big one, I doubt anyone from NI ever read threads here, popular or not. Maybe if a single post gets hundreds of Vote Up someone here between the administrators will tell it to someone at NI (but I doubt even that)

I do not believe I am not being overly "pessimistic" - if anything I am being overly "realistic".

Massive X here in (soon to be ) Fall 2024 is Battery 4 is Reaktor 6 is FM8. All former NI GOATs/superstars now on "permanent vacation". And well deserved.

But a continued reference to a marketing phrase ("Flagship") applied to Massive X (way back in 2019) does not necessarily equate to making it a "flagship" now.

Flagship Definition (courtesy of Merriam Webster) : "The finest, largest, or most important one of a group of things (such as products, stores, etc.) —often used before another noun.

If Massive X was in fact still an important "flagship" for NI - it would (logically) already have Poly Aftertouch, it would have regular ongoing updates and would most certainly be a member of this select group of current NI flagship superstars (Kontakt, Maschine and Traktor).

Most important of all - it's "future" would be a regular discussion point when Simon_NI (Chief Product Officer) steps up to deliver his excellent quarterly NI Product Roadmap Updates.

I get it - it's not hard to tell that Massive X is one of your specific favorites - it remains a fine synth - but reality is what it is.
