Even though Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic shows up in my installed libraries page on NI Access, it does not show up in my library panel in the Kontakt 6 or 7 window. All other Session Guitarist instruments show up. I tried re-installing in NI Access w/o success. How do I get it back in my library panel?

What is your operating system? What version of Kontakt 7 have you installed on your system?

Ok now I understand. There were updates for Kontakt libraries that broke compatibility for Kontakt 6 (and earlier Kontakt 7 versions). You simply need to downgrade the library. We provide all the necessary links in this thread: Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries

Thanks for the support, I have the same issue with Kontakt 6 and also couldn't open old sets after the recent 'Session Guitarist' updates.

The downgrade of 'Session Guitarist Electric Sunburst Deluxe' to version 1.0.0 worked, but 'Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic' did not: As mentioned in the thread above, it has to be installed from the ZIP archive on Windows, and then activated via the legacy version of Native Access. However, the download from Google Drive always fails for me.

Please provide the Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic Library.zip file from another source, if possible.

Here is a link where you can get both the zipped library and iso file: Picked Acoustic 1.0.0

Thanks for the link and helping to solve the issue. The download works now for me, but the ISO also contains the installer program in version 1.1.0 ('Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic 1.1.0 Setup PC.exe'). Could you please provide version 1.0.0, I think it's not enough to downgrade to version 1.1.0 (?).

@lu2 Sorry, this link was supposed to also contain the library. I tested the link ifor the library and it's working, can you try again? Picked Acoustic Zipped Library

    Thanks Jeremy_NI,

I downloaded the Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic ISO and installed it (which seemed successful), but I do not see a new library to install in Native Access. I only see V 1.1.0 in "Installed Products" What is the next step? Unfortunately my email at comcast.net went down, and I cannot see your previous posts. I have now changed to xxxx. Thanks

This is an external installer, once you ran it, you only need Native Access to activate it. Is it still not showing in Kontakt 6?

@synthestra: Watch out for the * footnote in that thread, noted right at the bottom of the list for "Session Guitarist Picked Acoustic 1.0.0 (Win)". Unfortunately, I had to install a legacy version of Native Access in order to install the manually downloaded "Session Guitarist - Picked Acoustic ISO".

(Quite unfortunate , since this software isn't cheap, and now there is already the next update of Kontakt coming. I hope that future updates will make sure that old compositions/sets still work after updating the software…)

@Jeremy_NI: Thanks again for your support, the fix worked in my case.

Hello NI team, I am running MacOC 10.15.5 and picked acoustic is no longer showing up in Komplete Kontrol after making updates last night in Native Access when I bought a few new products. (Ukulele, Guitar Rig 7 and Acoustic Sunburst Deluxe).

It seems similar to the issue above, but when I download the new ISO for picked acoustic, my Mac seems to think the file needs to be updated for me to access it. I'm getting an error message that says the digital signature is not trusted, but there seems to not be a way to get the computer to trust it in privacy and security settings (which is usually an easy fix).

Is it possible my MacOS version is too old? I also tried downloading and installing the latest version of Kontakt thinking that would help but the issue persists. I show Kontakt 7 in Native Access, but when I open my DAW (Logic Pro x) I show Kontakt 6.8. My sincere apologies for long post. Thanks in advance!

My most recent – and likely last – purchase from Native Instruments was the update to Komplete Ultimate 13. After installing and testing the overwhelming number of plugins, I couldn’t shake the impression that Native Instruments’ priorities have shifted. Innovative instruments and meaningful improvements to the core "bread-and-butter tools" seem to have taken a backseat. Instead, there’s a heavy focus on data collection (euphemistically called "telemetry") and quantity over quality. The number of software packages keeps growing, as does the storage footprint – but the actual value does not.

What’s particularly disappointing is the lack of continuity and long-term availability. Native Instruments fails to ensure that older software versions remain stable and fully functional after updates. Legacy instruments also receive insufficient support – a major issue when working on older projects, especially after migrating to a new system. A company like Native Instruments should prioritize this, even if it means introducing a small fee to offset costs.

The latest example: Opening an older project using Kontakt 5 and the library "Session Guitarist – Picked Acoustic", I found the library missing – despite being installed via Native Access. Switching to my also-licensed Kontakt 7 didn’t help. Eventually, I found it buried in Kontakt 8 Player, which I neither wanted nor needed, alongside intrusive ads for sample packs and a clunky interface.

A bit of research revealed the issue: The libraries had been "updated." This wouldn’t have been a problem if Native Instruments had implemented library versioning (e.g., "library/v5/", "library/v6/", "library/v7/"). Without it, updates can disrupt older projects. This avoidable oversight wastes my time, drains my patience, and highlights a severe lack of customer focus.

The final straw? A forum post by "Jeremy_NI" suggesting that users download older library versions via a Google Drive link (!). Alternatively, he recommends installing an outdated version of Native Access. Seriously? A company like Native Instruments should offer professional solutions, not dubious workarounds that erode trust and credibility.

Even with Komplete Ultimate 13, I was frustrated by the emphasis on quantity over quality. Other companies manage to ensure that updates and upgrades don’t break existing installed software. Why can’t Native Instruments? The developers are certainly competent – so what’s going wrong?

Cannot comment on your need to use older products and preserve older sessions. That is well understood and needs no explanation.

Everyone is free to use whatever they bought - regardless of age or version - as long as the product can be authorized.

However - no vendor is obligated to update any product that is scheduled for (or already in) retirement (due to a new version coming out) or to support any user who has their own ideas about what OS they want to use or what product they want to use - especially when their specific choice is retired, unsupported or both.

In the case of the Kontakt Libraries fiasco - I agree. That whole thing should have been communicated far better than it was. That said - this was discussed and rehashed ad-nauseum for at least a year starting in September 2023. All over the internet.

The bottom line - given the size of the NI catalog - is this. If you are intent on standing pat - on say a product like Komplete 13 - that is all well and good - but that will be your process to manage.

That process includes doing your homework on your version of Native Access and stashing away older versions if you might be staying with a specific OS. It also involves NEVER clicking Update All. Or never clicking Update at all inside Native Access - without at least checking the Release Notes for each specific update.

I could go on and on - but to be clear - no one is asking you to buy anything, update anything or do anything. Actually - if you want to preserve your sessions AND your sanity - the best advice is never do anything. Your non-activity (and staying far away from NA) will be like gold - the older your products get.

The primary directive of ALL software vendors is about moving their products (and hopefully our use of them) - forward. Companies do their best to try and make user transitions as pain free as possible but sometimes rough water is encountered. Hopefully the company learns their lesson and is better for it.

All we can support a company if we like the product, stay alert, ask questions and keep learning.

    VP
