Can anyone explain in laymans terms what the current situation with Rob Papen instruments is?

I have noticed that the Explorer 9 installer adds a VST2.dll alongside the VST3 iteration of their plug-ins (even if you decline VST2 during the install).

I am convinced that it is still the VST2 plug-in that gets loaded, but Rob Papen support insist not, and that because the NKS presets were created with VST2, this needs to be present in order to launch the VST3.

This sounds like a workaround on their part to me, MY evidence is based on that if I rename or remove the VST2 .dll the preset does not load, however if I replace it again, and this time remove the VST3 version instead, it loads fine.

I am attempting to convince them to update their presets specifically for VST3, but am I in the wrong here, and they need to do nothing?

I've moved this into its own thread as the library index was not the place to ask this, and also you did already ask this once and got answers from myself and Sunborn (which is the situation seems to be slightly different depending on whether you are on Mac or Windows). Not sure what else to add, this isn't about the NKS presets per se but the fact that the VST3 (and maybe also VST2 on Windows) are wrappers
