Komplete Kontrol A61 not recognised by Reaper

Hi

Following the death of my old laptop I decided to start completely afresh and buy a completely new set up - new laptop, new midi controller, everything starting from scratch.

I installed Komplete Kontrol but my DAW (Reaper) isn't recognising it.

When I open the Komplete Kontrol software and go to MIDI preferences, it is showing me the following window for "Input"

When I click "Output" I see this

I can put check boxes in the first two as follows but for some reason I can't check next to Komplete Kontrol A61 MIDI

Even if I deselect the first two - and remove the checkmarks from the "Input", it is not possible for me to tick to output MIDI via Komplete Kontrol A61 MIDI.

If I open up, say, Massive as stand alone, and press a key on the A61 keyboard, I do get a reaction in the thing next to "Master" so it is recognising some input but just not inside the DAW.

I'm at a loss to know what to do….. If anybody can help I would be infinitely grateful!

Thanks.

Graeme

    Hello,

i don`t own my a49 anymore but for the daw stuff look for "drivenbymoss" and for playing notes on a track you normally just enable the non daw port, so the port without daw in the name, the port with daw in the name is for controlling transport and stuff like that, and drivenbymoss will take care of automatacally. Also check that you don´t have set the midi port under "control/OSC/Web" then this error can happen, under the mentioned tab you only should add "drivenbymoss" and it sets everything by itself. Also be sure, that no other application uses the midi port.

@Graemelang There is no official Reaper host integration with the A series keyboard. @Uwe303 gave you a link to an unofficial one, which is totally ok, just to point that out.

You should untick this Microsoft GS thing if you don't want to hear a piano sound every time you play the keys.

    It's ok.

I downloaded the Ableton software that came with the keyboard and it works on that.

I'll ditch Reaper for now and learn how to use Ableton.

    Thank you.
