Flickering

lots of posts about flickering in the community. My issue is with any play instrument or instance of kontakt. All issues only when in maschine or logic (not in standalone).
random flickering of whole plugin window from slow to epileptic when opening the window.
the cure is to move the window to my monitor, then back to macbook pro screen. Then possibly having to repeat the move several times.
once the plugin window is still on one screen or the other, the problem stops.
in a template with 500+ tracks for orchestral work, I rely in logic remembering window pisitions and never moving them.
in maschine, on reopening projects, sometimes window pisitions are just sometimes forgotten, so have to move plugin windows back and forth in each group, until the flickering stops.

Ive seen an ‘issue’ message in the release notes of kontakt, saying about long standing GUI issues and crashes with mac in clamshell mode.
I dont use clamshell, just an extra monitor and have tried three monitors of different ages and makes, and have tried adjusting all refresh rates and resolutions on these and the macbook pro M2.

There is a mention of the aforementioned ‘issues’ no longer happening in the latest version of sonoma, but Im loathe to upgrade from Ventura after following the posts regarding kontakt being broken in sonoma at 7.10. It broke for me too but a downdrade to 7.9 meant I could carry on working.

At the moment I can work, but with constantly having to spend time adjusting window positions.
with all my years of audio, pro photography and video experience, Ive never known such a disruptive issue that appears to be affecting so many and is unaddressed.
I can see people are having issues with Traktor doing same thing but that it all appears to boil back down to Kontakt GUI in whatever form, whether within KK, as a plugin, or as a play series instrument.

Also intermittently stuck with spinning wheel in logic with Kontakt as a plugin, requiring force reset after several minutes waiting for only small instruments to load that will just randomly work the next time

Different issue which is claimed fixed in recent maschine update. Resizing adjacent events in piano roll. Still does not work. More GUI issues here but different ones.

Hi @Electromusicproject The flickering issue in Traktor is related to sorting, so the problem with Kontakt is different. We've seen similar reports from other users, and sometimes it's due to monitor settings. Have you had a chance to contact our support team? https://bit.ly/n1konta

This would help us identify the root cause and we might be able to offer a workaround.

Sorry @Kaiwan_NI but this is not due to monitor settings.

It is a problem rooted in NI software development, because 100 % of all the other plugins I own (> 400) are working perfectly fine without any flickering.

There were a number of questionable "ideas" how to solve the flickering in Kontakt (which is now months old) and they range from monitor settings to HDMI cables etc. all of which do not help, of course.

Contacting the support team does not solve the problem either and since this is a know issue for many users introduced with K7, the development team at NI should be well aware of what has changed internally with regards to talking to the graphics drivers, displaying the GUI etc.

I have this issue on a Silicon Mac M1 Max with thunderbolt connection to both displays. Kontakt flickers like crazy, not been able to figure this one out. Using maschine standalone when I encounter this

I'm using M1 MacBook Pro and my screen flickers with Komplete. I can open it as a stand alone but when in Logic it starts. This is something that just started. Everyone is saying it's the monitor but if that was the case it would do it in stand alone.

yes, as a plug-in in Maschine or logic, with M2 Mac here. We seem agreed it can’t be the monitor. I’ve not tested for if it happens with NO monitor attached. And I wondered if it was my USB hub which has hdmi cable, but looks like the flickering happens with direct thunderbolt to monitor as well.

Thanks all for sharing so far. Will do some more testing today

On my Mac Studio Ultra M1 (Ventura) in Bitwig and in Cubase: Kontakt 8 flickers on my 30Hz/60Hz monitor (Samsung Odyssey Ark).

I ran my Bitwig software on my second monitor for testing (Samsung Frame with 25Hz/50Hz) and there was no flickering. I think it has something to do with the 30Hz frequency of the monitor. BUT... interestingly, only the Kontakt 8 plugins are affected. Sine, Spifire and other plugins that have their own GUI are not affected.
