First off, this is a really nice upright bass sound. Very deep and full and a nice change from electric bass libraries. But there were a couple of surprises I discovered about getting the best out of it I thought I'd pass along.

The main thing I wasn't prepared for was the way it was handling velocity. It makes sense in that the difference in higher velocities and lower velocities on a real upright bass is the fretboard click and buzz on higher velocities. If you're wanting a very smooth bass sound with limited fretboard noise you really can't exceed a velocity of 90 and above. That can be a little tough when playing on a keyboard to stay in that upper range and not exceed it. Obviously there are tools to manage it or you can manually address the MIDI on a DAW track, but just something to be aware of. The fret noise parameter never really eliminates the fretboard buzz.

The samples being simply mic recorded it's not very loud at 85 or 90 velocity, but what I found is using it in conjunction with the Supercharger compressor using the Bass preset with the default settings give you a smooth, punchy full bodied upright bass sound. An easy quick setup for a good bass track. I got 4 bass tracks completed and mixed with some existing tracks in about 2 to 3 hours this morning.
