Change latency WASAPI Shared Mode with Presonus 24c
Good afternoon,
i have a problem. With Presonus 24c and Kontakt 7 if i use WASAPI Shared Mode it doesn't make me change buffer (latency) and is blocked to 480.
I can do change this?
Thanks

If you're using WASAPI shared mode the buffer size will pretty much always be 10ms which is 480 samples at 48k. You can change it if you switch to WASAPI exclusive mode.

ok but i would like use WASAPI shared mode so that i can use you tube audio and kontakt audio with 144 samples to have a very low latency.

Unfortunately that's not possible, it's a limitation of the interface.

Ok and what driver you advice to use? WASAPI or another?

I don't know the 24c that well, so can't really help. Bearing in mind it's an issue with the 24c drivers you might be better off asking over on the Presonus forums here - PreSonus Forums. They'll have a lot more users that are experienced with those interfaces.

Once you installed Universal Control, also the windows asio drivers have been installed.
It’s not really a matter of 24c drivers, more of the choice made by OP (in order to use the shared mode)

Ok lostinfoundation and In your opinion how can i set the latency lower?
Thanks

As mykejb told you, if you want to use shared mode there’s no way (at least that I know). It is fixed

If you want to use Windows apps and music apps like Kontakt, Cubase etc you need an interface that supports multiclient properly. For example, I have an Audient interface (the iD24) and I can use ASIO interfaces in multiple music apps and play videos from YouTube or songs from iTunes simultaneously without a problem. I just tried it with Maschine, Kontakt, Traktor, a YouTube video and a game and it didn't miss a beat. Some interface/driver combinations won't let you do that, and there's no way around it without the companies rewriting the drivers.

If your 24c (between: are we talking about Studio 24c or ioStation 24c?) works like my StudioLive 24 (and it should, being both from Presonus) you shouldn’t even need to chose shared mode to have multiple programs reproducing their sound. If your windows have your audio interface WDM set up as output and in Kontakt 7 you chose the Asio drivers for your audio interface, both audio should play together (and YouTube videos are managed through windows settings).
At this point, using Asio drivers for Kontakt, you are free to change buffer size in Kontakt as you wish (as opposite to Wasapi shared mode which is fixed).
The only case where Kontakt settings will stop YouTube audio is by selecting Wasapi exclusive mode.
In any case, it would be better not to use Wasapi at all, when you have the choice of Asio (specially dedicated Asio for a device)

Have you tried manufacturers ASIO drivers? I think Presonus must support multiclient mode for ASIO on cheaper audio interfaces. Not like Yamaha. 😒

The only drivers I could find for Presonus is the "Universal Control" application. It's weird because nothing actually mentions ASIO, but I can't imagine it not being available somewhere?
@LostInFoundation, is "Universal Control" the correct download for the ASIO drivers?

Yes. Installing Universal Control, which is practically the Control Panel for managing Presonus things, also doing things like firmware updates and giving them functions (e.g. giving a “virtual mixer” on the computer screen to control StudioLive Mixers), also the Asio drivers will be installed.
I checked and both ioStation 24C and Studio 24C are listed
