Battery 4 Preview Button Confusion

According to the NI manual, the Preview Button in Battery 4 is supposed to:

"Toggles the previewing function on/off. When active, you will hear a preview of the sample currently selected in the Browser."

Yet I cannot hear an automatic preview. Not sure if it is intended to be automatic, but if it isn't, what does it even do?

I don't notice any difference with or without it active; I still need to press my MIDI key (on m32) to trigger a note...

You have to have "Samples" selected on the Library Tab...see screenshot... it previews the individual Sample Wav files (or any supported file type if I remember correctly) It does not preview Kits... or the selected cell of any loaded kit.
