@JesterMgee I would encourage you to stay in communication with @Chris_NI and the team, particularly via the beta forum of which you're a member.

I am no longer responsible for or working on Kontrol, and not a member of the Kontrol product teams. I work on the Kontakt side now, and can only speak to Kontakt.

Thanks Matt, one thing you have always been responsive so appreciated. Yeah I have been trying but honestly, I have given up on the beta forum as it never has anyone really reply, doesn't seem to have any info on what is being considered or actioned, no actual feedback over the years as to the (many) issues reported and, well, kind of a waste of my time to try and flick through the mountains of problems and suggestions that seemingly fall into a black hole.

I have sent Chris numerous messages and PMs over the last few months, again one today but never receive a reply. Is it any wonder my level of positivity these days is at a literal all time low. Having had a pretty long conversation with another blind user today about their dissapointment in the latest V3 software and the severe lack of decent accessibility support and crippled navigation in the current V3 software has pushed me to keep trying. I'd like to reiterate the pressure and what some call "negativity" is based on trying to be the front for many other users that are not able to frequent the forums.

I do want to acknowledge some important points you made in the last post.

We have been asking for a fix for this now for 2 years

I agree - that bothers me too. That's a long time to wait. As you know, it's been on our radar.

    But as you say…

There is no importance placed because there are just not enough people asking for it. Well this may not be the "million" of users you need to consider something important but to me, these are people all singing the same tune about something that use to work just fine.

It's not that it's not important. We have a lot of important stuff on the backlog, all of it stuff I wish we could get to yesterday.

The reality is a question of prioritization, and the team has been at capacity working on other items before being able to get to this. That was the case when I was on the team, and is still the case now. Kontrol and Maschine firmware were both dominant topics last year (and the first half of this year), in addition to Maschine software taking up the bulk of last year. Komplete Kontrol has in that time also received a fair amount of care and attention, but not every improvement (or indeed reintroduction) has yet made it up top.

Forgive me if my attitude here is somewhat negative, but after 10 years of supporting NI with countless hours of work and many thousands of users supported, it is a kick in the guts to not only have this issue drag on but have that constant feeling of "oh, this is something a select few "power users" are harping on about" Companies like NI should be embracing these "power users" because they are doing the work you refuse to do.

I've been there, and I understand how it feels. You surely know that many of us feel the same way, even if we express it differently, or "from the inside". By and large, we aim to make everyone happy - and certainly the power users too. But we try not to spread too thin, as in the past that resulted in making no one happy.

Yeah I am use to waiting what feels like eternity for changes to happen and things to be fixed. Sadly, this is one of the downsides well known out there about NI and one of the things that has given you guys a pretty bad rap and when I discuss issues like this with people out there in the industry, some who have been consultants or employees in the past it is what frustrates me further because from their feedback, the answer is basically "don't get your hopes up mate".

It's not that it's not important. We have a lot of important stuff on the backlog, all of it stuff I wish we could get to yesterday.

Yeah I get there is a roadmap of what needs to happen etc but lets focus on just this one issue (out of many that need addressing and more that seem to pop up each week) this IMHO would be a rather simple fix since it is not that the sub bank selector is missing or non functional, it is just not appearing for some libraries for some reason. 2 years back now I posted an example of the issue and test NKS files for the team and repro steps in the Beta group. To this day, no feedback from anyone on this issue. I have been told each time it is a known issue and "in the backlog" but that is just like asking your Mum when at the shops as a kid if you can get a new bike and getting "maybe next time", we know that means no.

I can accept a 6 month delay, maybe even 12 months top fix an issue that was introduced but 2 years is a long time, it is very clear there are just no longer enough people at NI to cover the products you are selling effectively.

By and large, we aim to make everyone happy - and certainly the power users too.

This issue isn't about making just power users happy. I mean TBH I barely even use KK myself anymore other than to manage the NKS libraries I develop so personally I am not concerned with anything it does or does not do anymore and have stuck to v2 and my KK MK2. However I feel for users that have lost functionality and expected their MK3 to improve their workflow and add features not lose them. I hear this issue constantly. In fact, I just received yet 2 more emails about the problem:

Aha. Banks are fine, sub-banks are those which are problematic.

I hoped that changing folder hierarchy would change it, but still I have only few banks like Factory, Sonic Extensions, 3rd party and Bob Moog and sub-banks are not available.I changed folder hierarchy to have each library inside Omnisphere folder, without folders like factory, 3rd party etc but after rescan it’s still the same.
Hope this will be solved some day soon, or at least you’ll find some workaround for this.
Anyway, thanks for your replies and help.

    Cheers

    Hey there,

    A stupid question….
The Korg M1, like the triton and triton Extreme, they have different banks / libraries, in particular the m1 and also the wavestation (not the wavestate), How do you navigate the different rom cards, etc to browse presets? I’m trying to work that bit out lol.

It is just frustrating to hear about this issue constantly because my explination of the issue and the fact we are still waiting 2 years is really not filling users with confidence but I have to be straight and say based on history we may never see a fix for any of it. I'd love to be telling people instead of how engaging and pro active NI instead.

"don't get your hopes up mate".

I would point at least to where things are improving.

Kontakt 8 is on a frequent release cadence.

With a ≥1 release every 6 weeks for total of 8 thus far in 2025, and 3 more coming in Q3, the feedback loop is tighter, and Kontakt 8 is more stable than ever (and already used more than 6 and 7) - albeit still with a lot of room to grow and improve (some bigger improvements are coming in the second half of 2025). We're also pushing out a bug fix update to Kontakt 7 soon too.

The Kontrol/Maschine team is iterating rapidly as well. It's not always as obvious, because the results are spread across several products, but they've pushed out 8 updates this year: 3 Maschine software, 3 Kontrol software, and then 1 larger firmware update for each of Maschine Plus and Kontrol S MK3 (these took a lot of time, as the upcoming update for Maschine 3 on Maschine Plus is also taking).

So if people want and expect to see continual improvements, we've actions over words to show for it. Granted, not the improvements you're after yet, but results and momentum nonetheless.

Another user with the same issue…

    Message: My username is: joebach

Hi. Have many of your great NKS libraries, more later.

I noticed that the expansions for Omnisphere from The Unfinished do not appear as separate folders in Komplete Kontrol. All the presets go in the 3rd party folder. Would be nice to be able to choose a particular expansion set. I have them individually listed in the NI user content under Omnisphere/3rd Party/The Unfinished/... Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Just reminding this issue is now over 2 years old for the latest V3. Cannot select sub banks in user library like you can in Maschine and Komplete Kontrol V2…

Also, have STILL never received a single reply from @Chris_NI into any inquiry about these issues which is overly disappointing. My hope is he is snowed under with a mass of updates and fixes about to release. Next update better be a good one…

Disappointing? I'm downright and righteously angry.

Come on, Native. @JesterMgee has helped THOUSANDS of your customers/users. I know you've responded to him, but you're not even in the right department to help with his concerns. @Chris_NI (or a delegated technician) is the one who should respond to his presentation in the Beta forum. And it only gets worse by not acknowledging him here in the main forums?

That's not right; he deserves better treatment. Like maybe an apology, followed by a big thank you. He doesn't even gain financially for all of his work.

The good news is that Native Instruments can probably fix this just by reaching out to Jester and giving his concerns an honest hearing. This is leadership 101, folks. We can't keep telling people to "follow the procedure" (bring it up in the Beta forum) when the procedure itself is designed to ignore them!

Please, I beg you, NI. Do the right thing.

So, it is pointless to tag Mat again and again… 😉

    Thanks Chris

That is literally all we need to know.

We hear things like "it's in the backlog, we are aware of an issue, It's something were looking into…. all the time which is all well and good but we also know that in that same backlog are usually hundreds of other issues with more reported each week so it is very easy for things to slip or be forgotten about. The end state of KK V2 is a good example of that, I am sure you would know.

This is the the tip of changes many of us would like to see however this is a crucial fix (not a feature request, a fix) which will go a long way to restore some hope with users.

It is true, this issue along with a slew of others has dragged on significantly and many of us are pretty underwhelmed at the development of KK especially when it comes to anything that users are asking for which is why cases like this attract a constant persistence, waiting patiently certainly hasn't worked well in the past.

Anyway, thanks for an actual confirmation that this is not just "in the backlog". Having something I can tell the constant slew of people asking me about this problem will go a long way. Just FYI, out of the hundreds of users I have had contact me just this year on this issue alone I have asked every single one to post in this exact thread which I have been emailing out and as you can see, none (or very few) have posted at all so I would just like to remind those that rely on data metrics that it does not paint an entire picture of a problem.
