Just to make sure - No compatibility yet Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 & Sonoma
Hi All - yes, I have the Compatibility page bookmarked https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014900358 I check it everyday, and launch Native Access everyday to see if there's an update. As of now, I just installed 3.1.0 which just dropped, hoping that was the fix, but no.
I've been dead in the water (well, floating) with my S61 not being recognized by Komplete Kontrol on Sonoma. Maschine MK2 works flawlessly, even though it's no "officially" compatible yet. For the time being, I'm opening all instruments in Maschine, so I can use all of the auto mapping. Aside from that, it's just a cool looking general midi controller.
I definitely get the alert when launching Logic X that the "Plug-in for device Komplete Kontrol S-Series is missing, and there's a support article regarding trashing pref's that's supposed to fix it, but if KK can't see it...The lovely response from NI would be, "Yes, we're aware of that and we're working on it. Sit tight, and it will be there soon" :-)
Does anyone have an S controller (MK2) on Sonoma that has it working?
Thanks, and happy holidays

This is nothing to do with Sonoma compatibility, you are trying to run KK3 when the Mk1 keyboards are only supported for KK up to 2.9.6, revert to KK2.9.6 and you should be fine again

Well, what do you know - I saw that article and ignored it - I thought I had an MK2 this whole time :)
Thanks so much - reverted back to 2.9.6, and it crashes, so, another issue, but not for here.
Thanks again!

Hi,
I recently bought the S61 mK2 (yes, I'm sure) and I want to update to Sonoma so I can use Logic 10.8.1's new features.
as the man said in 'Marathon Man: “is it safe?”
currently on Monterey. All the N.I. software is updated.
thanks,
PaA.

Not a Mac user but if I was - the best play right now would be Ventura - if you really want everything working.
Again - there is a huge difference between installing and running something on Sonoma - VS having it be "fully" supported (and tested) by NI.
If you install Somoma and see no ill effects - great - but you are on your own.
Conversely - if you install it and stuff starts crashing down - you cannot call NI for help.
Your choice.

Komplete Kontrol 3 is now Sonoma compatible.
Kontakt 7 is coming soon.

Thanks for your replies. I know the software has been updated, but I don't see my keyboard on the list of tested/compatible hardware.
Being on the conservative side, I'll wait until there's official confirmation.

If Komplete Kontrol is supported then that's all that you need for the keyboard to function.

Both the mK2 and mK3?

Only KKv3 is "official" for Sonoma.
That said - KKv2 (2.9.6) - while not officially supported - is much better suited for use with a MKII right now.

I'm already up to date on everything. Are you suggesting that the mK2 isn't going to be officially supported in Sonoma? I've been told that N.I. drops support for hardware without warning.

The Mark II hardware - your actual keyboard - has little to do with this. Pretty certain - on it's own just plugging it in to Sonoma - it should be fine.
It's the software interface to the MKII that you need to think about...
Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 will never be supported in Sonoma as it is the last version of v2 series of Komplete Kontrol "software". NI has clearly stated there are no plans to update this specific version any further.
As such - it is almost certain that it will never be tested (or certified) by NI with Sonoma.
That said - for real world features, ease of use and especially awesome compatibility with a MKII device (specifically) - this is the one (IMO) to use.
Komplete Kontrol v3.2.0 - IS supported in Sonoma - AND will work with a MKII but at this juncture - has not attained feature parity or the same advanced usability as KKv2.9.6
You will need to choose which way to go - usability OR compatibility.
Now if I may taunt you with a third scenario: If I were a Mac user - with a MKII - AND wanted to get stuff done And the most out of my MKII - without a hassle - my tact would be different.
I would choose "Stability" (OS Ventura) AND Useability (KKv2.9.6) and leave Sonoma out of the equation completely.
This should never be about what Apple wants you to do - it should always be about what you need to do.

Ok, can I downgrade KK with no hassles?
thanks.

Yep. Uninstall KKv3 and roll with KKv2.
But just remember - if you are already on Sonoma - that is an untested situation.
I have read that some have reported it being fine while others - not so much.
Good luck!

I feel compelled to mention that not every MK2 user sees KK 3 as a downgrade, and that unless they use the specific features that didn't migrate, which most users didn't anyway, there's very little reason to lead with advice to avoid it.

No, not on Sonoma. I ask before I leap. Where can I find KK 2x? Do I use the current version of Native Access to do this?
