Forgive me but I'm pretty new to NI. I updated the firmware to the latest one and I double checked it updated okay but now I'm stuck on it saying Default MIDI Template. What do I do? Am I doing something wrong?
nevermind I fixed it myself
@spartacus216 Care to share the solution with us?
How did you fix it?
It was probably a connection issue, or installers that were not up to date.
Chances are he just had to meticulously go through the details contained in the announcement in this section about updating the firmware. I know it took me a couple of times going through it to make sure I accomplished each step of the process accurately. That was the worst part of getting my keyboard up and running correctly, but it was worth it. I can't blame him for ghosting everyone. Once I got mine up and running I was way too busy setting it up and configuring it to come back here for a couple of days.
C'est simplement un conflis USB essayez sur plusieurs ports ou changer de câble ou retirer les autres cable set tester mais rapidement vous trouverez la bonne connexion, et je crois que le cable NI est un peu limite sensible voir contrarié
I had the same problem, I could not use my Kontrol S49, it was stuck in the Default MIDI Template screen. I updated the firmware as it asked, it was working for a few hours, I went away to do dinner, came back and it was stuck. No illuminated Browser, Plugin or DAW buttons like before. I think I solved the proble by removing the USB C extension cable that was used, now on the original cable from NI. It was a few feet too short, hence the cable extender, but it was OK pre update. For those with this problem try this solution. My extension cable is the high speed UGREEN that I used. NI could you please provide the USB C cable spec requirements please for longer cables than the supplied one? Thanks
Hello everyone, I had the same problem 1 week after buying the MK3 Kontrol S49 😫. This solution found on the Cubase forum worked for me :
With Cubase closed, open your file explorer and navigate to your Documents Folder \VST XMLs\Native Instruments\Komplete Kontrol.
There you’ll see another folder. Open it and there you’ll most probably see an xml file named Generic 8 Cells.xml. Rename it to something else (in fact I would completely delete it, but just to be on the safe side, rename it to keep it as a backup).
Re-open Cubase and add some Komplete Kontrol instances, so that you can check if auto-focus is again working.
I don’t know about Kontakt but probably it uses the same mechanism, so if the above works you can find a similar file in the Kontakt folder instead of Komplete Kontrol and delete it as well.
I hope it will work for you guys too 😉
Hi, how did you resolve this issue please?
This problem is unresolved for me, even after upgrading to ASUS B550M-PLUS motherboard with onboard USBc 3.2 gen2, installing a StarTech PCIE USBc card, using multiple different cables, fresh Windows 11 installation, going through all NI's suggested solutions. My S61 Mk3 functioned correctly before the latest firmware upgrade. The keyboard actually functions perfectly on my wifes HP laptop. Plugged into its USBc port, the browser becomes available as soon as I launch Kontakt 7. I used her laptop to upgrade the latest MK3 firmware.
What else can I try? Need this to function on my purpose built Win11 music PC. Feel like I can't make music until this issue is fixed
HELP ME PLEASE!

Please do not post same question more places in the forum , reference your own thread here !
Please continue conversation in your own thread.
On the PC where you have the problem did you then also actually use Native Access to update the Hardware Connection Service to latest also ? . (in your case then firmware should be 2.0.4 and HCS should be 2.0.6)
Quote Matthew_NI :
Also make sure that the Hardware Connection Service is running and that the Kontrol MK3 can see it. Note that the hardware connection service should be started automatically when you open Komplete Kontrol software for example.
You can verify that the Kontrol Mk3 is connected to the HCS by going to Settings > general > agent version on the device, it should say version 1.9.4 (or higher ?) . If it doesn't, try a different USB-C cable, and/or a USB-C hub instead of connecting directly.
.
Else then try uninstalling keyboard drivers and hardware connection service, then reboot computer and try re-installing the keyboard using latest version of Native Access for your OS.
Else try the trouble shooters
