KK S61 MK3 bricked after firmware update (on a Mac)

I received an S61 MK3 and it was bricked after the firmware update(though on a Mac, which seems rare reading the comments on these other posts). It does not turn on at all despite trying multiple power sources and cables. I returned it to Musician's Friend and they are sending me a new one instead. I'm curious if there is anything I should be aware of to avoid doing when I receive the new one on Friday to avoid that one suffering the same fate?
